Job Description    

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Performs crystal growth, source prep, and other engineering defined processes in accordance with instructions from the Supervisor, Process Engineer and lead operator.  Primary duties include hot-zone preparation and assembly, furnace loading & unloading, furnace hot-zone rebuilds, and cleanup, furniture & source bake, and seed preparation. Makes sound decisions which lead to excellent crystal quality including level of furnace cleanliness, quality of hot zone components, ensuring view glasses are clean, and crucible integrity.  Monitors and adjusts temperature, pressure, power and other process parameters.  Maintains accurate log of process parameters, as instructed by the Process Engineer and Production Supervisor. Provides feedback to sups/leads/engineers on furnace and product condition at unload which could lead to improvements for the next run.  Maintains raw material, graphite and spare parts inventories. When requested, participates in production-related fabrication. Supports the evolution and maintenance of a complete set of ISO compliant growth and anneal room procedures. Keeps crystal growth and charge preparation areas clean.  Actively participates in housekeeping initiatives.  Follows all safety and health regulations and procedures. Works closely with the sup/lead on material withdrawals and associated MTR (Material Transfers) in order to keep an accurate inventory accuracy in SAP

Education & Experience

High school graduate. College level courses in math, physics, metrology, or chemistry are preferred. 1 - 4 years of mechanical/electrical/chemical trades experience.  Some lab experience is a plus. Experience with trouble shooting, problem analysis and resolution Demonstrated ability to achieve results independently or working with others  Ability to recommend and implement improvements Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Experience with networked PC based computer system (MS Office, spreadsheets, access, graphics, Email, MRP systems, and accounting software)

Skills

Must be prepared to work flexible hours, evenings and weekends as a part of normal work schedule. Must be technically inclined with good mechanical skills. Must be well organized, able to perform several tasks in parallel and work with minimum supervision. Must be capable of operating computer-controlled furnaces and make data entry. Ability to handle multiple priorities involving external and internal priorities Ability to excel in a cross-organizational, cross cultural, global team environment Set a high standard of ethics, professionalism, leadership, and competency.

Working Conditions

Manufacturing/production environment with some noise.  Closed toe shoes required

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand for long periods of time, ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Good hand dexterity.
