As part of a diverse and hardworking team of engineers, you will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and releasing a wide range of ground support equipment (GSE) and tooling. Working directly with the manufacturing team and their supporting groups, you will be tasked with solving ambitious manufacturing and handling challenges over a wide variety of hardware. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of the production line and ensure the successful delivery of development and flight hardware. We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact the development of rocket engines and safe human spaceflight.

Responsibilities:

Develop high quality production, development, and test stand integration tooling for Blue EnginesCapable of integrating concepts and principles of mechanical design and analysis of several different projects in a fast-paced environment -- projects will vary in size and scaleAbility to interpret and apply sound design and drafting standards (ASME Y14.5) in creating tooling drawing definitionsHandle a wide range of technical problems and familiar with all types of assembly fixtures, material handling, off-loaders, rotisseries, test fixtures, structural weldments, environmental chambers, and custom machinesClose collaboration with component designers, manufacturing engineers, and integration engineering to achieve the best possible cradle to grave metrics (safety, cost, quality, cycle time, delivery, reliability, life, and maintenance/refurbishment)Manage projects including, fabrication, inspection, equipment installation, and commissioning of toolingSet, implement, and maintain schedules and budgets to ensure project completion  Facilitate effective and collaborative communication by fostering creativity and leveraging team member strengthsThe ability to work in a team environment is a must. All designs are the collective effort of the team

Qualifications:

B.S. degree in any Engineering discipline from an accredited institution3+ years of work or project experience with design, build, and commissioning of tooling and fixtures for manufacturing, assembly, and test.Experience using CAD and FEA-based analysis software for structural applications.Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusionMust be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Desired:

2+ years of experience designing/drafting structural parts, precision components, and/or subsystemsStrong expertise in design for manufacturability and design for assembly including experience taking products from development design to rate productionSolid understanding of common manufacturing materials, GD&T, and tolerance/stack-up analysisExperience designing tooling(machining fixtures, assembly jigs, test support equipment) to support production of aerospace systemsSolid understanding of common manufacturing processes such as machining, turning, welding, sheet-metal bending, lifting/rigging, assembly, inspection, etcExperience with structural analysis in addition to the ability to perform hand calculations Experience with ProE/Creo and Windchill CAD/PDM systemsExperience with ANSYS Workbench, FEMAP Pre/Post processing, NASTRAN Solver, NX Advance Simulation, etc.
