Overview The Custodian is a full-time, year-round position at the Gatlinburg SkyPark. As the Custodian, you will perform custodial maintenance duties, including but not limited to dusting, sweeping & mopping floors, washing windows , cleaning and restocking restrooms. Responsibilities Job Summary: The Janitorial/Custodial Staff Member is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, safety, and a welcoming environment throughout the Gatlinburg SkyPark. This role includes daily cleaning tasks, minor maintenance, and prompt response to guest needs to ensure a pristine experience. Essential Job Functions (including but not limited to): Cleaning and Maintenance - Clean and sanitize restrooms, visitor areas, walkways, and common areas. - Regularly empty trash bins, clean windows, sweep, mop, and vacuum as needed. - Perform routine maintenance tasks (e.g., changing light bulbs, minor repairs). - Monitor outdoor areas for litter, debris, or hazards, ensuring walkways and staircases are clear and safe. Guest Assistance - Greet visitors politely and provide directions or assistance as needed. - Respond promptly to guest complaints or requests related to facility cleanliness or maintenance. Safety and Compliance - Adhere to safety standards and procedures, including proper use of cleaning agents and equipment. - Report maintenance needs, hazards, or safety concerns to management immediately. - Ensure compliance with Gatlinburg SkyPark’s health, sanitation, and environmental policies. Inventory and Equipment Management - Keep an organized inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, notifying the manager when reordering is needed. - Perform routine checks on cleaning equipment and report any repairs or replacements needed. Additional Duties - Assist with setup or cleanup for events and special occasions as requested. - Participate in team meetings and training sessions to stay up-to-date on safety protocols and procedures. Qualifications Required Qualifications (knowledge, skills, certifications, education, etc) • High School diploma or GED, no previous experience required. • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and products and safety procedures for their use. • Ability to understand verbal instructions. • Ability to understand and follow safety procedures. • Ability to operate vacuums and other related equipment. • Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies. • Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade. • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures. • Ability to understand written and verbal communications. Preferred Qualifications - High school diploma or equivalent preferred. - Prior janitorial or custodial experience is an asset. - Ability to work on feet for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform physical tasks in various weather conditions. - Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness and safety. - Customer service skills with a friendly, helpful attitude toward guests. Physical Demands: • Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects. Must able to bend, reach, and use movements required to complete assigned tasks. • Considerable physical activity. Requires physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of job. • Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions. • Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. Work Environment: This position requires both inside and outside responsibilities.
