Job Description MAJOR DUTIES: Manufacture, fit and assemble machine guarding, primarily using extruded materials, brackets, plexiglass and sheet metal, for factory automation projects. SPECIFIC RESPONISBILITIES: · Performs routine tasks related to the metal fabrication and assembly of parts for factory automation equipment. · Install plexiglass guards and fixtures on automated work cells. · Operate various saws, hand tools, sanders, polishers, punching and forming equipment typically found in a fabrication environment. · Cut and form sheet metals, plastics, expanded metals and wire mesh to create machine barriers. · Work with engineered drawings and itemized material lists to lay out, procure, and preassemble doors, panels and fixed guards. · Work in conjunction with the machine manufacturing department to finalize guarding functionality and safety requirements. · Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct. · Work in compliance with divisional health, safety and environmental procedures. · Refrain from removing or altering safety devices or guarding unless hazardous energies are controlled through lockout-tagout methods. · Report any unsafe conditions or unsafe acts. · Report defects in any equipment or protective device. · Ensure that the required protective equipment is used for the assigned tasks. · Attend all required health, safety and environmental training. · Report any accidents/incidents to the supervisor. · Assist in investigating accidents/incidents. Qualifications Education: A grade 12 diploma, specializing in welding and machine shop or equivalent. Experience: · Requires a practical working knowledge of metal fabrication and milling procedures. Also requires the ability to read blueprints, as well as a good mechanical aptitude Assist in investigating accidents/incidents. · Experience in construction framing an asset.
