Lead Housekeepers will be in direct contact with patrons on a daily basis. Work in this position includes a substantive amount of cleaning with a variety of duties and responsibilities. The Lead Housekeeper will also oversee/direct regular Housekeeper’s work. Leads housekeepers in accomplishment of work. Relays instructions to personnel, sets work pace, assign tasks and gets work started. Demonstrates work methods and provides training and work-related guidance for lower grade workers. Ensures that workers have the necessary tools and equipment to perform the assigned duties. Reviews and spot checks work in progress and upon completion to ensure proper quality of work is performed. Corrects any discrepancies that are found. Ensures employees follow security, safety and good housekeeping practices. Ensures that materials and equipment are properly and safely stored, protected and maintained. Informs supervisors of work progress, operating problems, need for supplies and equipment, actual or potential delays and similar items. Cleans and sanitizes guest rooms. Guarantees all patrons are following housekeeping policies within private quarters. Cleans public areas including but not limited to, restrooms, laundry facilities, kitchens, lounges, playrooms, and stairwells. Responsible for daily washing, drying, folding, and storing linens. Stocks housekeeping cart with needed supplies daily. Keeps Guest House manager or lead housekeeper informed of needed or limited supplies. Records all lost and found by following appropriate procedures. Reports damage to guest rooms and public areas to supervisor for further action or repairs. Installs cribs and rollaway beds in guest rooms as needed. Responsible for cleaning and stocking housekeeping storage and laundry rooms. Responsible for the safe handling and storage of all cleaning products. Trains and gives direction to and oversee regular Housekeeper’s duties and responsibilities. Responsible for safe storage and handling of all cleaning products. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Uses required safety equipment and observes safe work procedures. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Performs other related duties as assigned. SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE: Skilled in all phases of house cleaning. Possess ability to clearly communicate general and specific instructions, both orally and in writing. Must be able to read and understand directions on product labels and printed instructions. Knowledgeable in safe working habits, conditions and environment. Ability to use various industrial-type equipment, to include performing minor maintenance on equipment. RESPONSIBILITY: Responsible for accomplishment of assigned work with little or no instruction. Plans work by reviewing daily room and occupancy schedules and determining sequences, steps, procedures and techniques to be followed in accomplishing the required tasks. Work is reviewed for results achieved, production, quality, appearance, and overall guest satisfaction. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work involves light to heavy physical effort, continual walking, standing, bending, stooping and reaching pushing and pulling of items weighing up to 20 to 40 pounds, and occasionally over 50 pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is typically performed indoors, in areas that normally have adequate heat, light and ventilation, however some duties required are outside and will expose incumbent to varying types of weather. May be exposed to various pet hair and dander, dirt, disagreeable odors, chemicals and cleaning solutions and receive minor cuts and bruises. Powered cleaning equipment may cause vibration during handling. Work is often dirty and dusty. This position is a Lead position that supervises 2 to 7 other guest attendants with mixed schedules. Availability needed for Weekdays 7/8 am - 3/4 pm. Flexible hours in Fall/Winter months. Guaranteed Hours 30 to 40 hours/week year-round. Weekends 12 pm-4 pm/4 pm-8 pm if needed for training or due to operational needs. If needed, be on-call - after hours - lockouts (2 hours pay if called in). Must be able to follow simple oral and written instructions and can use hand or lightweight powered cleaning tools or equipment. 2. Must be physically able to frequently lift and carry items weighing up to 40 pounds. 3. Must be able to continuously stand, stoop, and reach for long periods of time. 4. Must be able to work an irregular tour of duty to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays Preferred (in addition to the minimum): 1. Previous housekeeping experience, preferably in the hospitality industry. 2. Previous supervisory or leadership experience.
