JOB SUMMARY:  Responsible for the management and operation of Camp Homelani’s guest service department. Responsible for securing, managing and hosting camp rental groups, guests, and day retreats. This includes managing the camp rental calendar, group data base, housekeeping schedule, and related support staff. Live on site for the convenience of The Salvation Army and for the purpose of fulfilling the obligations and responsibilities of the Guest Service Director position.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Professing Christian (this is a ministry position). Experience in leading people and the ability to work well with camp staff, the public, and children that we serve. Excellent organizational and communication skills Excellent customer service skills and abilities. Responsible for finances related to guests, groups, and retreats. Ability to supervise support staff, volunteers and rental groups Preferred: At least two years /seasons of experience in the camp ministry Preferred: Associate or bachelor’s Degree in management, guest services, camp ministries, or related experience. Preferred: Familiarity with Revolution Hawaii ministry Computer proficiency required in MS Word, Excel, Access, Databases, Email & social media Must be available to work Weekends

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Adheres to all Salvation Army, American Camp Association (ACA), Protecting the Mission and government guidelines and requirements. Respect and uphold Camp policies and procedures. Respect and enforce Camp and neighborhood curfews: sound, light and fire. Meets with staff at the beginning of each weekend group to distribute work assignments and discuss special needs or concerns. Communicates problems with rental groups to the Camp Director/Associate Camp Director. Provides top quality service to rental groups, guests and campers. Meets regularly with Camp Director/Associate Camp Director/Food Services Director to discuss menus for upcoming groups and events. Reports suspicious activities or altercations to Camp Director/Associate Camp Director and/or police. Facilitate meeting Camp objectives by substituting for other staff positions as necessary. Manage the camp rental calendar and booking of all rental groups in a manner edifying The Salvation Army. Coordinate with group leaders to ensure booking requirements such as contracts, deposits, camp policies and procedures and processing. Coordinate with Divisional headquarters (DHQ) leadership for divisional events held at camp. Must be available during group rental period serving as host and camp representative. Conduct ongoing evaluations/surveys of camp services and make recommendations on how camp can better service customers in the future. Maintain the camp office operations, phone calls and mail processing when the Camp Director/Associate Camp Director and B.A. are off campus. In consultation with the Camp Director/Associate Camp Director develop community contracts to increase winter and weekday bookings. Maintain regular contact with contracted groups throughout the summer months.

SKILLS/TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE:

Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in management, guest services, camp ministries, or related experience. CPR/First Aid Certification Customer service skills Experience in working with children Leadership skills Prioritize multiple work-related tasks to meet tight deadlines Valid Hawaii driver’s license
