These positions are limited with an intermittent **fluctuating work schedule** depending on the season and event needs and may work up to 30 hours per week. The specific days and hours per week will vary and include evenings, weekends, school breaks, and holidays. Estimated work timeframe: April 1 to November 2, each year; for up to three (3) years. This position is expected to run through the end of August and return for a seasonal event in October. **This position is anticipated to continue until March 31, 2028, or until the selected candidate completes their educational program, whichever comes first.** **No person may be employed as a student worker for more than 36 total months.** This position provides customer service to guests at the Minnesota Zoological Gardens. This position is responsible for greeting guests, performing cashier duties and membership sales, and responding to questions and requests for information in a prompt and respectful manner. This position is also responsible for providing wayfinding and safety information, monitoring animal touch experiences for animal and guest safety, crowd control, equipment rental, handling lost and found items, and assisting with relaying communication throughout the Minnesota Zoo. Some positions may perform Zoo carousel operations and guest transportation on the Zoo campus. + Provide quality customer service in a prompt and respectful manner to all guests and staff so that a positive public image is presented and ensure a positive guest experience. + Perform cashier duties so that accurate sales are collected (cash/credit/gift card charges) and transaction records are maintained. + Monitor animal touch experiences to maintain safety of the animals and guests. + Perform other guest service tasks promptly, accurately, and safely so that the safety and comfort of Zoo guests is maintained, the overall guest experience is positive, and the stewardship of the Zoo grounds is preserved. **Minimum Qualifications** **The following qualifications are required of all applicants seeking consideration for this position. To facilitate proper crediting, please ensure that your resume clearly describes your experience in the areas listed and indicates the beginning and ending month and year for each job held.** To be eligible for appointment as a Student Worker you must be a student enrolled in an educational program or planning to enroll within three months. Students may be "off" for the summer or for one semester/quarter and remain employed as student workers, but such absences cannot exceed one semester/quarter in a year. As a student you must be enrolled in a post-secondary or graduate program. If a student is enrolled at a credit-granting institution he/she must carry at least six semester (nine quarter) credits. If enrolled at a non-credit granting institution or one that only offers one credit per class, a student must be taking two or more classes per semester/quarter. Any lesser credit (class) load shall be treated as a semester/quarter off. Graduate students must be enrolled in at least two courses or making progress on a dissertation. **You will be asked to complete an Educational Verification form prior to appointment, and every (6) six months thereafter.
