POSITION TITLE: GYM / EMERGENCY DISASTER DIRECTOR (EDS)
STATUS: FT-EXEMPT $49,920

GENERAL STATEMENT:

SCOPE OF POSITION:

EDS: works directly under the authority of the Corps Officer in deployment strategies and response of resources
to include staff and volunteers in state and local disasters. The EDS Coordinator will have intimate knowledge of
community resources and local disaster emergency services infrastructure for local government and every level.
The EDS Director will represent the Salvation Army when directed to do so in nonprofit collaboration and
response when called upon under Community Organizations Acting in Disaster (COAD).

GYM: responsible for supervision and coordination of youth sports programs, mission integration, outreach,
promotion and coordination of all gym programs. Responsible for scheduling, promoting and oversight of rentals
and sports leagues. Encourages Christian spiritual development and connection to Corps Ministry programs.

 

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE EDS:

High School or GED Minimum of 5 year of experience in the following fields: Emergency Operations Management, disaster
resource and logistics, state and local government coordination Minimum of 2 years-experience in directing and overseeing volunteer workers and or community service
workers. Skilled in general operations of all related equipment for position.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE GYM:

High School or GED Minimum of 1-2 year of experience working with young adults and children in community programs
Program leadership and organizing experience required Coaching, athletic club leadership - essential Knowledge of SA programs, policies and procedures

pass a TSA background check Ability and willingness to keep information confidential

 

SOFTWARE-RELATED SKILLS:

Microsoft Word and Excel required Demonstrated experience working with email software required; Microsoft Outlook\, helpful Working knowledge of integrated database applications and ability to use new software programs (such as
Bridges and Others database) with basic training. Working knowledge of standard office equipment such as copy machine, fax machine, multiple phone line
system, printers, etc.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

EDS

Manage and maintain emergency equipment and supply inventory Participate in local strategy sessions conducted and or initiated by local governmental agencies responsible for disaster coordination. Serves as the Salvation Army COAD representative (currently acting Chairman) Responsible for deployment strategies as appropriate in coordination with Corps Officer. Provide regular updates on all related information pertaining to disaster response to Corps Officer and or as delegated to do so with SA Incident Commands. Prepares necessary MOU'’s and or Contracts required in coordination with Corps Officer and local agencies.

Mission integration Outreach Represent SA at events and meetings All scheduling Responsible for management and attendance at all tournaments and games Set up and take down of equipment Responsible for arranging officials Hire, supervise and manage all aspects of coaching staff Responsible for uniform and equipment procurement Order and maintain all equipment required Responsible for all aspects of travel related to games, ALL SA camps and tournaments

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead Ability to operate telephone Ability to operate a desktop or laptop computer Ability to lift up to 40 Ibs. (usually food or file boxes, food boxes, Cambro’s) Ability to access and produce information from a computer Ability to understand written information Ability to operate a motor vehicle

Health Insurance:  Low bi-weekly premiums for employee-only coverage, Kaiser HMO for those residing in a Kaiser service area, Anthem EPO/PPO is available for those residing outside a Kaiser service area.  Voluntary +1 and +family coverage at additional cost.  Delta Dental DHMO and DPPO dental insurance are offered. 

Life and Voluntary Options.  An employer-paid life insurance policy covers employees.  Voluntary supplemental life, short-term and long-term disability plans are available.

Retirement Plans:  Employer-funded Money Purchase Pension Plan (Defined Contribution Plan) 50% vested at five years eligible service time. Plus, an employee-funded voluntary 403(b) option.

Parental Leave:  The benefit is 40 hours of Paid Leave for qualifying events.

Sick Leave:  12 days of Sick Leave annually accruing from day one, eligible for use after three months’ service time. 

Paid Vacation:

Two weeks annually, accruing from day one, for non-exempt positions. Four weeks annually, accruing from day one, for exempt positions. Accrued vacation is eligible for use after six months’ service time.

Paid Holidays:  13 designated holidays + 1 floating holiday per year
