Job Description
As a Hammer Helper, you will assist the Blacksmith and other members of the forging crew in performing the forging operation. You will be responsible for transferring and lifting metal parts, setting up hole punching operations, and ensuring the quality of finished parts using various tools and equipment.
ResponsibilitiesTransfer and lift metal parts to and from workstations using pick ups or manipulator.Set up hole punching operations by placing punches on parts.Rotate, turn, and flip parts during the hammer operation using shears, bolsters, and levers.Remove scale from work pieces and dies using a broom.Mark material with specified information using a metal stamp.Apply lubricants throughout the forging process.Measure rough and finished parts to ensure fit in ring roller.Conduct set-up of sizing equipment.Operate an overhead crane.Operate a forklift and/or manipulator and refuel with propane.Grind surfaces of finished parts using portable and stationary power grinders.Maintain housekeeping and a safe, organized workstation.Understand and follow company procedures and work instructions.Follow all company policies, safety guidelines, and procedures.Essential SkillsGeneral labor experience.Ability to assist the Blacksmith and forging crew effectively.Proficiency in operating overhead cranes and forklifts.Knowledge of measuring tools and equipment setup.Additional Skills & QualificationsAbility to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.Reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities.Why Work Here?

Work Environment
Large manufacturing company. You will need to go out to the floor to check products. The schedule starts between 1pm - 3pm, working 8-12 hour days depending on business needs. You must be open to working Monday through Friday, with Saturday overtime as needed.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.94 - $19.94/hr.
