An exciting pre-opening opportunity exists for a Handyperson to join our team at Hyatt House South Melbourne. This role offers the unique chance to be part of launching the Hyatt House brand in Australia, with the hotel scheduled to open at the beginning of 2025. As the Handyperson, you will be responsible for assisting the Maintenance and Security Supervisor in ensuring the hotel is well maintained and guests’ needs are met in accordance with Hyatt International’s brand standards. Demonstrated through operating plant machinery and carrying out repairs / maintenance for front and back of house areas.

Carry out a range of maintenance and repair work to areas throughout the hotel primarily based on your main skill set, with the ability and flexibility to also multi skill.Attend to all guest and colleague requests in a timely and professional mannerPerform routine inspection of all public areas and plant repairs maintenance as requiredTo monitor plant operations and conduct regular plant inspections during your shiftAssist other trades in the completion of tasks as requiredAttend to, and report any malfunctions on plant and equipment as situations ariseCoordinate and supervise contractors where required to ensure compliance around Hotel’s procedures regarding guest contact and safetyThe ability to create a positive first impression when interacting with guests and fellow colleaguesThe flexibility to work on a rotating roster including weekends and public holidays as and when required

Trade qualified is most desirableMinimum 5 years in a general maintenance rolePrevious experience within a facilities maintenance role would be advantageousExceptional interpersonal communication skills with advanced proficiency of the English languageExcellent time management skills and the ability to work unsupervisedA level of customer service skills along with excellent service resolution skillsThe necessary skills to be able to perform a variety of general maintenance and repair worksThe ability to work and foster connections in a team environment
