The team you will be a part of The Electrical Engineering team designs, develops or coordinates development of components, small systems, quality systems, processes or materials.This role in summary

The Hardware Engineering position is responsible for designing electronics, from requirements to production release embedded in Whirlpool Appliances. You will execute engineering tasks as part of cross-functional teams for new product development programs responsible for concepts, requirements, design, analysis, and testing. The specifics of this role are focused on the design, analysis, and testing of electronic controls over a wide range of operational environments, markets, and feature sets.

This position will be based out of Joinville, Santa Catarina on a 4 days on site work scheme.

Your responsibilities will include

Design hardware modules and select components.
Design hardware solutions to drive system optimization, improve module/component design and enhance product reliability.
Interact with system architects/integrators to review and consolidate application requirements.
Select and integrate hardware modules to build embedded hardware applications.
Perform simulation of electronic/electrical circuits model.
Design PCB (Printed Circuit Boards) layout and perform/participate in layout reviews.
Prototype assembly, bring up, debugging, and functional verification
Working with and managing suppliers/manufacturing partners.
Provide support to all designers to perform component research and assessment of component life cycle and assist various teams to identify appropriate resources and substitutes for components;
Analyze and develop solutions to resolve all issues associated with obsolete components and suppliers and perform required validation tests;
Along with engineering & procurement staff, manage all communication with suppliers/manufacturers on defined supply components and evaluate all results effectively.
Define Zero Based Plan and roadmaps for key components including new part request criteria;

Project Execution Activities:
Actively Participate in Technical Design Reviews to ensure the Project’s deliveries are according to the specifications.
Actively Contribute to Change management in place to manage the changes to the project.
At the Design Completion Milestone, complete the project deliveries to ensure that all requirements at the system level are satisfied.
Follow Whirlpool development processes, systems, and tools.
Run industry benchmark and competitive analysis for defined components;
Delivery of Project KPIs (cost, quality, schedule) with the commitment to meet Project Planning, including Test plan development and execution;
Review and interpret all component datasheets and evaluate their application for various products/modules solutions;
 

Minimum requirements

Bachelor's Engineering Degree (Electrical, Electronic, Controls, Mechatronics);
Experience working in Electrical engineering ;
Fluent in the English language. (reading, writing, speaking, comprehension).
3+ years of experience in any of the following: designing electronics hardware modules, select components, electronics simulation, PCB layout design, and prototype assembly/testing.
Experience with microcontroller selection and life-cycle management;

Preferred skills and experiences

M.Sc. Engineering degree (Electrical or Electronics) is highly desirable
Knowledge of the Allegro Cadence package (Schematics, PCB, etc.).
Able to work with both Global and regional Groups, influencing positively the organization in all directions(both Vertical and Horizontal).
Effective communication and negotiating skills.
Knowledge of 6 Sigma methodology.
Knowledge of EMC&EMI theory.
Experience designing high-volume products and dealing with contract manufacturers.
Mixed-signal and embedded board-level design experience incl. Up to 32-bit microcontrollers.
Hands-on experience building prototype electronics: assembly, board bring-up debugging, functional verification, and modification of mechanical housings. Capable of SMD hand soldering, reflow, and rework of small packages; 
Experience with digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supplies, and electronic loads;
Project assessment & Risk management
Strong documentation writing skills
Knowledge and experience in using PSPICE for simulations.
Desired experience in some of the following areas:
Analog and Digital Logic design;
Signal Integrity analysis;
Power Supplies and Power management;
Testability and DOEs (Design of Experiments);
