Hardware Technician Job Description We are seeking a hardware technician who is experienced and comfortable using hand tools and power tools to assemble both robust metal structures (tube frames, sheet metal) and delicate electronics assemblies (PCBs, small-gauge wiring). The ideal candidate will have familiarity and experience with a broad range of tools and skills, and be motivated to utilize and improve those skills to produce high-quality output. You will maintain a tidy and well-organized workspace and materials, keep good records of your work products, and recognize that a job well done the first time is always more efficient in the long run. Responsibilities + Assemble robust metal structures and delicate electronics assemblies. + Utilize hand tools and power tools for mechanical assembly tasks such as drilling, tapping, deburring, filing, and sanding. + Perform soldering for assembly and repair of wires, through-hole, and surface mount components. + Assemble cables including stripping, crimping, testing, and strain relieving. + Follow good ESD practices to assemble sensitive electronic components into a system. + Manage purchasing, inventory planning, and management. + Troubleshoot and use test equipment for hardware assembly and repair. + Maintain a tidy and organized workspace and keep detailed records of work products. Essential Skills + Experience with mechanical assembly using hand and power tools. + Proficiency in soldering for assembly and repair of wires, through-hole, and surface mount components. + Skilled in cable assembly including stripping, crimping, testing, and strain relieving. + Strong understanding of ESD practices for assembling sensitive electronic components. + Experience with purchasing, inventory planning, and management. + Ability to troubleshoot hardware and use test equipment.
