This position requires that you work onsite at the San Jose, CA, office five days a week, as the role requires lab work.
Meet the Team
You will be part of the Common Hardware Group (CHG), which develops the silicon, optics, and hardware platforms for Cisco's core Switching, Routing, and Wireless products. You will primarily be involved in developing and validating the next generation of industry-leading Ethernet Switches for Enterprise & Campus Access/Core segments. You will work with a dynamic and dedicated team on the product delivery of industry-leading access, aggregation, and core enterprise switches. Your Impact
* Participates in a project with a team of engineers involved in the hardware specification, design, development, and test.
* Define the unit and system-level test processes and procedures.
* Responsible for unit and system-level test architecture design (what to test and how to test to exercise all the components and interfaces on a board).
* Write complete unit and system-level test plans and execute those tests.
* Debug complex issues at the system and component levels, including CPUs, ASICs, FPGAs, Power supplies, PHY, etc.
* Work closely with hardware design, software/diagnostic, ASIC, and manufacturing test engineers to establish a product test strategy, develop the required scripts, test the products, and resolve any issues to ensure a successful release to mass production.
* Test product compliance to internal specs as well as industry standards.
Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in electrical or computer engineering with 5 years of hardware validation/testing experience or Master's in electrical or computer engineering with 3 years of relevant experience
* Experience in the field of Networking.
* Experience with Networking Switches, Routers, and other networking devices.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience with electrical and optical test and measurement equipment, such as oscilloscopes, Power meters, traffic generators, and environmental chambers.
* Experience with High-Speed Network Interfaces (10G/25G/100G/400G)
* Scripting knowledge & experience, preferably in TCL/Python, is a plus.
* Ability to apply networking principles, theories, and field concepts to product tests.
* Good understanding of L2/L3 routing and switching.
* Basic knowledge of the OSI Model, LAN/WAN topologies, basic router, and IPV4/IPv6/MPLS/VRF switch configurations.
