The Engineer III, Hardware Test is an individual contributor who works on electrical and mechanical assemblies for Omnicell’s point of care systems. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, executing, and automating tests for various hardware components and systems. You will work closely with design and development teams to ensure the functionality, performance, and reliability of hardware products. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of electrical and mechanical systems and be comfortable working with testing tools, equipment, and software.
Responsibilities
Design, implement, and execute hardware tests on various components and systems.Develop and maintain test plans, test cases, and test scripts to validate hardware performance.Design, fabricate and build hardware test apparatus for proof-of-concept, reliability and accelerated lifecycle testing.Conduct both functional and stress testing of hardware products to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.Troubleshoot and debug hardware failures, identify root causes, and provide solutions.Work with design engineers to understand product specifications and ensure test coverage is comprehensive.Automate test processes using scripting languages and testing tools to improve efficiency.Document test results and create detailed reports on test findings, performance issues, and resolutions.Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., software engineers, product managers) to ensure seamless integration of hardware and software components.Stay up-to-date with industry standards, trends, and emerging technologies to enhance testing methods and tools.
Required Knowledge and Skills
Experience in embedded systems testing or firmware testing.Proficiency in using test equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters).Experience with test automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., Python, LabVIEW, MATLAB).Familiarity with software and hardware debugging tools.Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Basic Qualifications
Minimum 8 years engineering experienceProven experience (5+ years) in hardware testing, electronics, or related areas.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s in Engineering related to Hardware (electrical or mechanical)Advanced knowledge of medical products, markets, customers, and business fundamentalsExperience with tolerance stack-up analysis on complex mechanical assemblies, including software packages for conducting tolerance stack-up analysis.Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) theory and softwareKnowledge of industry standards such as ISO 9001, UL, or CE.Working experience with FDA regulated, ISO13485, or other highly regulated environments
Work Conditions
Onsite environment in Milpitas, CA at least half time.
Base Compensation: $100,625 to $143,750
