Harnessing Design Engineer II

This role is part of the Blue Origin Engines business unit, where our focus is the design, development, manufacturing, and testing of engines and propulsion systems. Built for multiple uses, our family of engines is powering the next generation of rockets for commercial, civil, national security, and human spaceflight.

  

As part of a hardworking team of diverse specialists, technicians, and engineers (use as appropriate), you will be responsible for engineering, designing, and installing of electrical harnesses for rocket engines. This is a hands-on position that will involve you in all aspects of engineering, design, fabrication, installation and test. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Design of electrical harnesses for power distribution, sensors and actuators and communication

Selection of harness components and hardware, connectors, backshells, cable and wire

Understanding and application of EMI/RFI and harness shielding

Create 3D routed harness data files utilizing Creo (Pro/Engineer) Cabling and Creo schematics or Zuken

Create harness detail and installation drawings including 2D flat harness drawings from the 3D harness data sets

Design and integration of harness support brackets

Support design configuration development and trade studies

Develop harness routing requirements, interfaces, specifications and process controls

Provide technical guidance for hardware installation

Active involvement in the assembly and testing of cables and harnesses

Maintain and report on activity schedule, budget and technical status

Identify opportunities for improvements and operational cost and schedule savings

Minimum Qualifications

B.S. degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or an appropriate engineering field

2+ years of relevant experience

Experience with Creo / ProCabling highly desired; equivalent other software will be considered if all other required qualifications are met

Understanding and application of wire derating analysis

Strong electrical/mechanical design and integration skills using 3-D CAD software.

Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion. 

Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Creo / Windchill, Creo schematics and or Zuken

Familiar with existing applicable harness standards

IPC/WHMA-A-620A, NASA-STD-8739.4

Experience with Pro/E Cabling

Experience with other high end CAD routing software such as Unigraphics NX Electrical and Mechanical Routing

Knowledge of harness fabrication and installation processes.

Experience with launch vehicle or spacecraft mechanical systems.


 

Compensation Range for:

WA applicants is $109,980.00-$153,972.00

Other site ranges may differ
