About the role

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Shift Supervisor is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the facility during an assigned shift. The Shift Supervisor will routinely tour the plant and oversee the work of various employees while operating within all safety regulations, environmental limits and permits. In the event of emergencies or unusual operations, the Shift Supervisor will, if necessary, direct, or personally perform the required operations as well as coordinate the activities of all employees involved.

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Maintaining a safe working environment for all employees at the facility and ensuring that all employees follow all applicable policies and procedures and work in a safe and efficient manner.

Maintaining a sense of urgency and response to any injuries, accidents, or environmental incidents.

Direct supervision of shift crew.

Operating and maintaining the plant within all environmental limits and permits at all times.

Providing Emergency Response to injuries, accidents, or environmental incidents.

Providing leadership and direction to operations team members to accomplish required plant operation and shift activities.

Ensuring the completion of shift, daily, weekly, and monthly logs/checks.

Maximizing the operational performance of all aspects of the facility.

Troubleshooting plant operational issues.

Initiating maintenance work orders as necessary to maintain plant equipment reliability and plant availability projects as determined by the Operations Manager.

Performing training and qualification of operations team as required to support training and qualification requirements.

Recommending plant improvement items to improve safety and overall plant efficiency, reliability, and utilization.

Recommending improvements to plant procedures and practices, and development of the same.

Performing other duties and administrative tasks as assigned.

Schedule:

Monday through Friday from 6:00am-4:30pm

Ability to work overtime and Saturdays.

Qualifications:

HS/GED diploma required.

3 years or more of demonstrated hands-on supervisory experience working with high performing teams required.

Remain current with HAZWOPER, RCRA, DOT and safety training.

Ability to pass physical and wear a full-face respirator / Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA).

Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

Good communication skills with all levels of employees.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general administrative periodicals, technical procedures, and regulations.

English proficiency with the ability to write reports and correspondence as well as effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and subordinates.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals, compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.

Ability to take appropriate safe action on his/her own initiative to prevent equipment damage or injury to employees during emergencies or unusual situations.

Skills:

Safety Management, Inventory Control, Mobile Equipment Operation, Transfer of Liquid Material Amongst Tanks and Tankers, Hazardous Waste Management, Confined Space, Spill Response, Leadership Skills, Basic Chemistry Knowledge, Vacuum Truck and Tractor-Trailer Experience (desired).
