The Hazardous Waste Handler will act as the liaison with Hazardous Waste Coordinators, serve Temporary Collection Areas (TCA) and Satellite Accumulation Areas (SAA).  Ensure that material has proper identification, documentation and coordinate with Industrial Waste Treatment Facility (IWTF) for treatable waste movement.  Responsible for inspection, moving, consolidation operation and inspection of Hazardous Waste Storage Facility (HWSF), TCA, and SAAs.  Prepares documentation for disposal through the Defense Reutilization and Marketing Office.  Generates reports including TCA inventory, report, HWSF inventory report, WID lists, and Tank and Inspection reports.  Ensures that all reports are completed, accurate and turned in as required.  Response to Hazardous Waste Storage Facility Spills.  Also is part of Installation Spill Response Team.  Provides continuous, safe, and efficient handling and storage of hazardous waste at HWSF, TCAs, and SAAs.  Performs other duties as assigned.

* High school graduate and equivalent Must have certificate of completion of the Defense Packaging of Hazardous Materials for Transportation. Minimum two (2) years of experience in the hazardous material handling/environmental field. Must successfully complete required training in accordance with 40 CFR 265.16 (d)(1) within 180 days of employment. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Access. Must have experience with EPA and DOT regulations as related to the proper classification, segregation, transportation, and disposal of waste generated by the maintenance of industrial processes. Must possess a valid Class "B" CDL and be able to obtain a government drivers' license for size and type vehicles required Must be able to wear close-fitting respirator (requires the absence of facial hair that interferes with the respirator seal). Must possess a valid state driver's license Must have and wear hard-toed ankle-height safety shoes which meet ASTM F2413-05 standards. Successful candidate will be subject to a government security investigation and must continually meet eligibility requirements for access to all areas of Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay.
