This internship is designed to provide hands-on experience in technical fields related to highway engineering, preconstruction, construction, and maintenance of the state’s highway system. Interns will be assigned to a unit and supervisor based on their skillset, interests, and career goals. The role offers exposure to a wide range of tasks, working both independently and as part of a team in a professional environment. Key Responsibilities: + Collect field data and quantities to support contracts for resurfacing, bridge repairs, intersection improvements, drainage improvements, and other highway projects. + Assist in office operations by compiling data and documents for various contracts. + Analyze data to recommend actions for roadway improvements or highway asset maintenance. + Collaborate with teams to support preconstruction, construction, and maintenance projects. + Interact with internal and external customers, providing professional communication and service. Desired Skills and Qualifications: + Enrolled in a college or university with a minimum of two years completed in a mathematical, technical, or engineering-related field. + General knowledge of computer software, including Microsoft Office Suite. + Strong aptitude for mathematics and technical problem-solving. + Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact with diverse teams and customers. + Background or interest in surveying, GIS, roadway construction, and/or maintenance is a plus. + A valid driver’s license is required.
