Full-time Work Schedule,
Monday- Friday, 40 hours per week
Position: DMV License and Theft Bureau Intern (2 positions)
Location:DMV Headquarters, 1515 N. Church Street, Rocky Mount, NC
Internship Duration:10-week internship (May 27-August 1, 2025)
About the Role:The DMV License and Theft Bureau is a critical division within NCDOT, responsible for investigating motor vehicle crimes, managing vehicle-related administrative processes, and ensuring compliance with state statutes. This internship offers students an immersive opportunity to gain hands-on experience within various sections of the Bureau, providing insight into day-to-day operations and the unique challenges faced by DMV professionals.
During the internship, students will rotate through major sections of the Bureau, such as Program Units, Training and Development, and Supply and Logistics. Assignments may include small projects in multiple areas or one large, overarching project, depending on the Bureau’s needs. Interns will develop a comprehensive understanding of the Bureau’s functions and contribute meaningfully to its operations.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Gain a working knowledge of daily operations in multiple sections of the Bureau.
+ Complete assigned tasks and projects in areas such as vehicle theft investigations, storage lien processing, and motor vehicle seizure reports.
+ Support administrative tasks, including compiling and maintaining reports on stolen/recovered vehicles, processing notices of intent to sell vehicles, and entering data into DMV systems.
+ Use Microsoft Office Suite, Image Plus workstation scanner programs, and DMV-specific software.
+ Communicate effectively through written correspondence with lienholders, law enforcement, and other stakeholders.

+ Preferred Majors:Criminal Justice, Business Administration, or related fields. However, all majors are welcome to apply.
+ Skills:
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
+ Strong organizational and analytical abilities.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

+ Must be a currently enrolled full-time student in a bachelors, masters, or professional level program at an accredited or recently graduated from a North Carolina Historically Black College/University (HBCU) or Minority Serving Institution (MSI) within the past three years.
+ 24 credit hours completed.
+ Minimum overall GPA of 2.5 (on 4.0 scale)
+ Has legal right to work in the U.S. and do not need sponsorship.
