The Design – Intern primarily involves supporting our team of designers, throughout the Seasonal design process to ensure the successful execution of our ranges.
The ideal candidate is a creative and adaptable individual, who thrives in a dynamic, growing Apparel department.
Responsibilities
Work on the product design process including sketching, CAD designs, and creating art sheets / tech packs for development. Assist in lab dip, trim, strike off approvals and fabric library maintenance. Support style development in checking in protos, sales samples and other submits Attending and supporting sample organization for fit sessions / photoshoots as required. Research on the market for key emerging trends across shape, material and color. In-store visits with the team to gain intelligence on competitors and local market trends. Assist in creating quality presentations and sales tools for internal range showings and sales meetings. Assist in maintaining an organized creative work environment, inclusive of team workrooms and collaboration spaces, color and raw material areas.
Minimum Education/ Experience
Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or graduate degree program at FIT, or Parsons University, both at the time of application and throughout the internship duration.
Bachelor's degree with 1+ years work experience; 4+ years of equivalent work experience can be substituted for Bachelor's degree
Specific Skills or Experience Required
Currently pursuing a degree in Fashion, Design, or a related field. Proficient in Adobe CS Illustrator and Photoshop. Experience with Photoshop, Excel, and PowerPoint. Basic knowledge within Garment fit and construction. Possesses a team player personality with a positive can-do attitude and willingness to learn. Proven organization skills, effective multitasking, and time-management skills. Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including public speaking. Takes personal responsibility for continuous acquisition of new knowledge, skill sets, and experiences
