Position Overview
We are seeking a HCM Director of Japan to join our global HCM team. In this role, this person will be responsible for overseeing and delivering high-quality advisory and services across all human resources disciplines across East Asia. The role is based in Tokyo and reports to the Global Head of HCM in New York.
Primary Function & Responsibilities
Act as trusted advisor providing expert advisory across a full range of human resources disciplines.Collaborate with business leaders to understand priorities and deliver tailored HR solutions; provide strategic and real-time HR consultancy/advisory.Develop, drive, track, and report the HCM people strategy and key objectives for East Asia region.Lead and manage change initiatives across the Japan franchise.Ensure business compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies in collaboration with business lines and legal entity management.Work closely with leaders and employees in the areas of talent and performance management.Partner with the global HR team including specialist functions to align HR services with global and regional priorities while meeting local requirements.Provide guidance on compensation and incentive planning in line with firmwide policy; advise managers on year-end processes and work with global HR compensation team on market benchmarking.Manage employee relations in a sensitive and timely manner and in keeping with local and firmwide policies and practices; be knowledgeable and advise global HR leaders and East Asia senior managers on Japanese labor law.Conduct or oversee fair and consistent investigations, ensuring objective management of people issues.Identify and implement training needs, working with global talent management team for effective and cost-effective solutions.Responsible for talent acquisition for East Asia including job requisition management, candidate/manager/third party relationship management, and candidate pipeline generation, approval process and seamless on-boarding for new hires.Manage ad-hoc projects as required and assist with implementation of global HR initiatives.Experience & Skills Qualification
Bachelor’s degreeMinimum of 15 years’ experience in human resources, at least 7 years in investment management industrySignificant experience in strategic business partnering, preferably developed within a global, complex, and fast-paced business.Proven track record of developing strong relationships regions and business areasStrong knowledge of Japanese labour lawProficient language skills in both English and JapaneseAbility to exercise sound judgment in applying legislation in the work/business environment.Relationship management skills, including the ability to communicate, influence, and collaborate with different levels of stakeholders as required in a range of complex situations.Ability to demonstrate strategic thinking, change management, problem solving, leadership, influence, teamwork, and collaboration.Neuberger Berman is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
