HDC Truck Driver

JOB TITLE: TRUCK DRIVER                                                       REPORTS TO: TRAFFIC MANAGER

 

 

SUMMARY

To drive in a safe and professional manner. To deliver customer orders promptly as scheduled with the merchandise in good condition and without damage. To ensure that all invoices are signed, returned and that ELD’s are completed correctly.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Check vehicle assigned for mechanical malfunctions and complete the Pre-Trip inspection.Must be able to help receiver if required.Secure customer's signatures as to the items received as listed on each invoice, the number of items delivered, and entries on the bill of lading. Counting of tobacco products is mandatory.Ensure that all merchandise is loaded and unloaded properly.Upon return to the warehouse, drop the tractor and trailer and assist with other duties as necessary. Turn in all invoices, bills of lading and fuel tickets in the dispatch office.Must be able to drive in a safe manner adhering to all company, FMCSR and DOT safety regulations. Must work in a safe manner.Must be technologically capable of successfully operating the ELD System (Driver logs, mileage, etc.), handheld devices and other systems with training as needed.Must be able to drive automatic or manual transmissions, jack brakes and trailers up to 53 feet.Must be available for work as needed including all routes.May be required to perform other tasks as necessary, such as truck wash, moving equipment around, etc.May be required to pick-up backhauls, check pallet counts, and sign & submit necessary backhaul documents.Must meet DOT medical standards.Involves Traffic Manager when sensitive decisions must be made at delivery points.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

2 years tractor trailer driving experience

21 years of age

Class A CDL License with a clean driving record

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

       Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Must have good interpersonal and communication skills. 

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

       Basic addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, and fractions.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

       Class A CDL License
