HDDC Sales Specialist

The Design Center is a spectacular new interactive showroom experience. Our showroom, unlike any other with endless inspiration everywhere you look, thanks to our 30+ interactive kitchen, bath, and laundry rooms. Customers will explore hundreds of products from the most innovative brands in appliances, cabinetry, fixtures and more!

Position Purpose:

HDDC Sales Specialist (Appliance, Bath, or Flooring) provide clients with information on product features, advantages and benefits, and make suggestions about related merchandise. These associates also provide information about and sell extended service protection plans. Associates in this position provide fast, friendly service to clients and are responsible for assessing their needs and providing assistance. They know how to properly greet, qualify, recommend and close every client in their department, and have knowledge of the basics in adjacent departments. They maintain the condition and appearance of assigned areas, and ensure that areas are clean, shoppable, and safe. They will also maintain a professional relationship with vendor representatives, making new product recommendations as needed. They must possess strong teamwork and follow-up skills, enabling them to work with their team to process a customer transaction from pre-qualification to delivery, ensuring the highest level of customer satisfaction possible. Each associate has the responsibility of providing a safe working and shopping environment by following all safety policies & standards, completing specified safety training, immediately correcting hazards & unsafe conditions or reporting conditions to the Manager On Duty, and working safely as not to endanger themselves, co-workers, vendors, or customers.

Actively greets clients in the product showroomPartners with Product Demonstrators to showcase products, services, and related productsAssists clients and designers with special orders and installed salesPromotes services offered in other departments, as neededFollows up with clients via telephone when appropriateResolves client complaints or involves the appropriate manager to ensure customer satisfaction

Educates clients during the selling process (e.g., answers questions, elaborates on features, benefits, costs)Creates and drives sales within the product showroomSuggests related items/services that might complement clients' product purchaseAssists with keeping product showroom in excellent appearanceMakes decisions on markdowns when necessary to satisfy clientStays abreast of daily, weekly, monthly sales reports

10% Self-Development

Proactively seeks knowledge on all products and servicesActs as the subject matter expert for The Home Depot Design Center products and servicesRoutinely develops skills in related areas of expertiseMaintains advanced knowledge of all products in product showroom and competitor productsCoaches other associates regarding product features, cost, benefits, etc.

Travel Requirements:

Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time.


Physical Requirements:

Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.


Working Conditions:

Typically located in a comfortable indoor area. There may be regular exposure to mild physical discomfort from factors such as dust, fumes or odors, temperature extremes, loud noise, strong drafts, or bright lights.


Minimum Qualifications:

Must be eighteen years of age or older.Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

2+ years Retail, Specialty Retail, Outside Sales or product experienceAbility to work in a fast paced environmentAbility to work independently and with a teamSales aptitude including the ability to close the sale, presentation skills, initiative/persistence, adaptability and professionalismStrong verbal and written communication skills


Minimum Education:

The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diploma and/or GED.


Certifications:

Must be able to pass Food Handler's Card Certification
