What You'll Be Doing
The US Region Head of Non-Transactional Credit Risk provides guidance and direction to ensure credit risk is accurately identified and managed through the US Region. Work with the US Region Chief Credit Officer, Director of Credit Policy, Adjudication staff, Data Risk Analytics and the Lines of Business to develop and propagate credit risk rating procedures, credit policies, standards, guidelines and processes to mitigate credit risk in the portfolio and maintain satisfactory relations with banking examiners assigned to oversee credit risk.
How You'll Succeed
Establish and maintain a strong credit culture across the US RegionAdvise the Chief Credit Officer on credit risk matters and reporting, including emerging trends in credit quality and credit portfolio management (past dues, covenants, and similar concerns)Provide subject matter expertise regarding the application of credit oriented regulatory requirements and guidance to ensure appropriate complianceOversee external and internal exam processes and communicate results of each exam to senior US Region and Enterprise managementProvide subject matter expertise and guidance to risk rate credit exposure using both risk rating models and standardized risk rating parametersRepresent US Region Credit Risk Management concerning audit and regulatory remediations, enhancements to improve credit risk reporting and oversight, and control environment.Alternate Chair of the Criticized Asset Management Process and as delegate for other executive committees for CIBC Bank USA and CIBC Inc.Effective challenge of credit risk matters as appropriateWho You Are
20+ years in commercial lending and or credit analysis with significant participation in the review, approval, and credit risk monitoring processBachelor’s degree majoring in business or finance required; advanced degree preferredDetailed working knowledge commercial bank practices sufficient to apply, adapt and modify practices and processesThorough knowledge of functional and business operations, products, process and regulatory environment within which financial institutions operateSolid collaboration and ability to develop and sustain important business relationships both internal and external to the organizationSound judgment and problem solving and ability to make key complex decisions independently and with clear thinking and sound logicAbility to interact with all levels of staff and managementProven understanding of regulatory requirements for commercial banking institutionsProven ability to lead others in the execution of organizational risk objectivesExcellent technical and analytical skillsStrong verbal and written communication skillsStrong organizational and presentation skillsProficient with MS Office SuiteValues matter to you. At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $200,000 - $275,000 for the market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which may also include a discretionary bonus component.
