Head Counselor Full Job Description Malvern Day Camp (MDC) Head Camp Counselor is responsible for the supervision of the campers, promoting and actively participating in all summer camp activities, providing a safe and fun learning environment, and serving as a positive role model for campers. The hours of this full-time, seasonal position are from 8:30am-4:30pm*, Monday through Friday. Malvern Day Camp runs from May 19th to mid August 2025. There will be mandatory training dates before camp begins. + Opportunities exist for additional compensation to work extended day program before or after regular camp hours. Benefits of Working at Camp: + Work in an active and professional environment with both indoor and outdoor facilities. + Gain hands-on experience working with children in a structured setting. + Develop new relationships with peers + Gain knowledge through mentoring with Camp Directors + Make a difference in the campers’ summer experience + Become a child's hero. + Learn leadership skills. + Competitive Wages Responsibilities include: + Group supervision of campers + Behavior management + Promote and actively participate in all camper activities + Work effectively with co-counselors and collaborate on daily responsibilities + Serve as a positive role model to campers Head Counselors are employed in one of the following camps: Mini Camp: 5-6 year olds Junior Camp: 7-9 year olds Senior Camp: 10-12 year olds Counselors in Training: 13-14 year olds Requirements + Previous experience working in a day camp setting (preferred) + Previous experience working with children; examples include, but are not limited to: camp counselor, tutoring, youth volunteer, or classroom assistant if no prior camp experience + Follow the Malvern Day Camp policies and procedures + Minimum of 18 years of age Required upon hire + Completed Background Checks (FBI, Child Abuse, Criminal, NSOR) + Willingness to complete additional training (Mandated reporting, First Aid/CPR, Water Safety, etc.)
