**38495BR** **Extended Job Title:** Head Nurse (Transmountain) **Org Level 1:** Texas Tech Unv Hlth Sci Ctr El Paso **Position Description:** Employees in this classification are responsible for the planning, organization, direction, and evaluation of patient care services (primarily nursing services) within an assigned specialty or sub-specialty area in one of the ambulatory clinics. Persons in this position provide supervision and direction to subordinate nursing personnel, coordinating the nursing service with the medical services in order to provide an efficient and professional environment for optimum production in health care for the patient. Employees are also responsible for providing professional nursing care within the assigned area of work. Supervisory duties include but are not limited to interviewing applicants for vacant nursing positions and making the final selection, maintaining personnel records regarding leave time, evaluations, and personnel problems, conducting employee evaluations, approving and coordinating leave time for nursing personnel, and assisting personnel in setting work-related goals. Work is performed under usual clinic conditions. **Requisition ID:** 38495BR **Travel Required:** Up to 25% **Major/Essential Functions:** + Manages clinic activities with clinic manager and address changes to staff + Directly supervises clinical employees impacts patient, staff and the flow of the clinic. + Able to communicate changes, issues and other important information that impacts patient, staff and the flow of the clinic. + Provides professional nursing care to patients and administration of drugs + Manages consultations with physician. + Responsible for planning, developing, implementation and monitoring department goals and procedures based on federal law/Medicare regulations and JACHO. + Responsible for patient education. + Manages medical equipment, supplies and maintained medication inventory. + Manages overall nursing activities in clinic and assures that policies and procedures are being followed based on Texas standards. + Identify that appropriate tasks are assigned to an unlicensed all unlicensed and licensed personnel and maintains delegation. + Monitors safe and legal parameters for nursing staff + Adhere to all policies, procedures and practices (Regents Rules, TTUS, HSECEP OPs, etc.). + Personally demonstrate, display and act in accordance with TTUHSC EP's Values (Service, Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Advancement, and Teamwork).
