Your role and responsibilitiesAs a member of the DACH Cluster (consisting of Germany, Austria and Switzerland) Robotics leadership team, she or he is responsible for the translation of the business strategy into a customer-focused 360-degree communications strategy. She/he will have deep experience in counseling executives, building a communications strategy and cluster Communications team that raises visibility with key stakeholders and building a function that is integrated into the business leadership, working closely with Marketing and Sales to design content for customer centric communications campaigns. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned, experienced communicator with a strong track record of building and networking across global teams, with deep experience in change communications and strong business acumen. The ideal candidate will be able to work with, build and leverage resources across a highly matrixed organization with the support and interaction of the Robotics & Discrete Automation (RA) Communications Central leadership team, of which she/he is a member. You will be mainly accountable for:• As part of the DACH Cluster Management team, actively contributes to the business strategy for profitable growth through the development and deployment of innovative and effective communications activities, serves as trusted advisor to Robotics managers in the DACH Cluster.• Manages/grows a team of RO Custer Country Communications professionals. • In close interaction with and the support of the RA Central Communications team, translate strategy into targeted customer-focused communications plan and tactics including: thought leadership, external and social media, digital online content, trade shows & events and product and solutions communications. • Creates/localizes central positioning and communications content for products and solutions, develop communications calendar including events and shows, media and speaking opportunities. • Offers guidance regarding crises and issues in line with ABB’s operational model. Ensures all internal issues and crises are handled with minimum negative impact to the organization and the ABB brand.• Ensures executional excellence and accountability for all communications measures in line with brand positioning and corporate identity/corporate design guidelines • Develops social and traditional media relations strategy, coordinate and supervise media relations work for business press in coordination with External Relations and the RA Central Coms team as needed.• Responsible for internal communications duties, including mandatory employee communications and oversight of GDPR compliance for local communications. Supports the business head and the management with personal communications materials including presentations, speeches, Yammer/Intranet articles and employee recognition. Develops/drives internal change communications program that ensures the direction of the business is clear to all employees and that each understand what is required of them for success. • Works with/contributes to RA Central Coms team, EE cluster coms leads to ensure sharing of content and best practices. • Manages and applies rigorous control of the budget, ensure transparency maximize cost efficiency and minimize overlap among businesses.• Responsible for developing KPI’s and monitoring return on investment for all BL led communications activities. • Creates bank of content for reuse by global communicators in coordination with RA Coms team. Builds community of practice working with RO Central Coms Mgt team.
Qualifications for the roleMinimum 10 years of related experience, preferably a mix of Corporate/Agency experience within the technology industry and extensive media relations experience. Experience in a highly matrixed organization and in coordinating with and working across geographies.Fluency in German and English (written and spoken).Understanding of the impact of communications on the organizational Brand. Ability to advise Senior Leadership as well as communicate at all levels of the organization. Managing internal and external relationship with senior stakeholders.Practice in building and collaborating with formal and informal networks at all levels of an organization.Strong business acumen, experienced counselor to business leaders, expected to develop a deep and sophisticated understanding of the business, the portfolio, trends and key decision makers/influencers, as well as an understanding of the key drivers for success.Strong analytical/writing skills, able to support on keynote presentations, executive talking points, media briefings, Q&A documents etc.Complete connectivity with communications central team, proactive business partner, contributing communications ideas on how to improve business performance. Intercultural sensitivity and experienced in cross-functional, international collaboration and building strong personal networksAction-oriented, strong attention to detail, able to take ownership of complex projects and see them through to completion with a high standard of excellence. Positive and passionate personality, with a strong drive to challenge the status quo and continuously improve things.
