As part of Pharma Technical Development (PTD) our organization is committed to deliver the Pharma ambitions by bringing game-changing therapies from clinical phase I into the market to serve every patient, every day.  Our core business is to develop safe, innovative and effective drugs using cutting edge technologies for manufacturing process (Drug Substance and Drug Product), clinical supply, formulation, device, packaging, and analytical development. 


As an integrated partner within the drug development ecosystem, Global Biologics Pharmaceutical Development is dedicated to effectively developing innovative and patient-centered parenteral drug products including Formulation Development and Drug Delivery Systems.

The Opportunity

The US and EU Pharmaceutical Development organizations lead in developing parenteral drug products. The Heads oversee teams of over 55 experts, ensuring products meet commercial and patient needs on time. Collaboration is key, aligning strategies between regions for smooth program and technology transfers, with consistent materials and regulatory submissions.​

Lead the US Global Pharmaceutical Development department, ensuring effective project prioritization, resource allocation, and embracing lean practices and continuous improvement. Represent the function in stakeholder interactions and focus on global harmonization

Lead chapters of 10-12 experts in developing parenteral drug products, ensuring stable result delivery through efficient team structures

Provide strategic leadership for pharmaceutical development, supporting clinical studies and commercial launches. Develop robust formulations and processes in collaboration with relevant teams

Drive innovation by implementing new technologies and collaborating globally to develop advanced drug delivery approaches

Foster an agile, lean, and innovative culture, encouraging smart risk-taking. Develop staff through coaching, performance management, and career development, and contribute to the PTD business strategy

Who you are

Holds a PhD in a relevant scientific field or equivalent work experience, with over 10 years in the biopharmaceutical industry, focusing on parenteral drug product development up to product launch

Strong leadership skills with over 5 years of people management experience, known for leading multidisciplinary teams and contributing to project and organizational decisions

Comprehensive technical expertise in pharmaceutical development, capable of overseeing end-to-end formulation development and regulatory submissions, with a solid understanding of regulatory guidelines and industry practices

Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, capable of conveying complex technical topics and building productive relationships across functions

Proven ability to drive continuous improvement, lead innovation, think strategically, manage budgets, and develop high-performing teams. Embraces LEAN principles and is willing to travel approximately 10% nationally and internationally

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco, CA is $221,000 to $410,400.  Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.  A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.  This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
