The Role
As a Head of Finance, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Providing financial support and governance to our strategically important Warship delivery business stream. Based primarily in Devonport, Plymouth, but with at reach support across the globe.
Day-to-day, you’ll deliver critical business partnering support to the Platform Delivery and Platform Support Directors, as well as other critical supporting functions and the wider Programmes delivery teams:
Leading a small group of project accountants, the Head of Finance will guide, develop and grow the key talent in the team. Working closely with other members of the finance leadership team to promote collaboration and sharing of best practice wherever possible. Build strong working relationships with key stakeholders across the enterprise, including the delivery teams, Project Managers and key customer contacts. Oversight of financial performance for all projects within the business stream. Management of costs to complete, maximising profitability where possible.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and requires regular travel to our Devonport site, in Plymouth on a weekly basis alongside home working arrangements.
Essential Experience of the Head of Finance:
Strong communicator, ability to work with individuals at various levels of the organisation. Ability and desire to take a hands-on approach, willing to get into the detail but also see the big picture. Drive for continuous improvement, and comfortable questioning the status quo. Strong character; willing and comfortable to challenge. Ideally, you will have experience of working in the defence sector or similar but, this is not essential.
Qualifications for the Head of Finance:
You must hold a recognised professional accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, ACMA, CIMA, ICAEW, ICAS) or equivalent / similar.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
