How you will create an impact As the North America Head of Financial Lines Technical Claims you will report to the North America Head of Financial Lines Claims, and be responsible for technical oversight of Financial Lines Claims in North America. You will be responsible for driving Claims technical excellence and be a recognized subject matter expert within and outside of the Claims function in the relevant business lines . You will collaborate directly with senior claims, underwriting, actuarial, legal and compliance leaders to ensure effective development and management of strategic objectives and policies for those lines of business, and be responsible for leading the development of clear and effective strategies for resolving high complexity and severity claims, for identifying claim and coverage trends, and for driving technical excellence and internal business partner communication within specific business lines. You are also responsible for setting strategic vision for the approach to and resolution of these claims, driving claims consistency by product, partnering with underwriting on trends and exposures and working with actuarial to develop a robust and consistent approach to claims exposure assessment and reserving. + Providing oversight of complex, high severity claims across D&O, E&O/MPL, Fiduciary, Fidelity, Financial Institutions, Employment Practices Liability products, focusing on overall claims consistency, thought leadership, best practices, lessons learned and technical trainings across all regions and products in North America. + Monitoring of, and escalation/referral for guidance, direction and authority on, matters involving high severity and/or complex coverage issues and matters involving high profile insureds or events or of significant impact. + Active involvement in highest severity or high profile claims, at the direction of senior claims management, including direct involvement in negotiation of settlements with Insureds and Claimants, based on sensitivity, severity, complexity or age of matter, as necessary. + Assisting the Head of Financial Lines Claims with the effective management and implementation of strategic claim objectives and policies for a line of business, in accordance with the company's strategic plans. · + Claims trend and legal development identification, analysis and reporting, including regular LOB reports for senior claims management and internal business partners and similar LOB-specific reporting; coordination with IT/claims data functions to ensure necessary/correct data views. + Providing oversight and management of systemic and quasi-systemic claim issues that cross all lines of business; generating periodic reports and updates regarding exposures to senior claims, actuarial and underwriting management. + Reviewing, developing and/or delivering technical claims training content; developing a formalized “lessons learned” capability fit for purpose for Financial Lines to ensure claim insights are communicated consistently with stakeholders in Underwriting and Actuarial. + Communication of, education and training regarding existing or developing coverage issues to ensure accuracy and consistency of position/approach. What you will need to succeed You should demonstrate a passion for the business and for breaking new ground to lead change. You will possess a demonstrated ability to educate and communicate, to lead by example as well as through direction, and to motivate a driven, bright, diverse team, while serving as an exceptionally effective change agent. You will possess a strong business and process mindset, and change leadership skills to unify operational teams around common goals. + At least 15 years claims handling and leadership experience, preferably including oversight over multiple financial lines products and geographies, in depth knowledge of the insurance industry, its practices and operations; technical expertise in relevant lines of business; + Strong commercial mindset with a proven track record of making sound judgments backed by strong analytical skills and business acumen; ability to exercise professional judgment and assume responsibility for decisions which have an impact on business goals; + Self-directed with ability to motivate and effectively influence others; + Strategic leadership skills in developing vision and purpose, driving for results and leading effective teams; + Skilled leader of change; versatile, client focused, results oriented; + Demonstrated expert claims experience, business savvy, analytical and quantitative skills; + Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills; creativity in resolving unique and challenging business problems; + Ability to effectively interact, communicate and build trusting partnerships with all levels of external and/or internal business partners within scope of responsibility, team and/or matrix environment.
