The Role: The Head of Financial Services and Sponsors is a pivotal leadership position responsible for steering the sales team to achieve strategic objectives within the financial services sector. This role demands a seasoned professional in consultative sales, particularly within insurance, banking, non-bank financial, and financial sponsors. The successful candidate will exhibit a proven track record of managing and developing high-performing sales teams, driving revenue growth, and building strong client relationships. They will be adept at formulating and executing strategic sales plans that align with business goals and market trends. This role offers the opportunity to lead a dynamic team in a global organization, leveraging expertise in financial markets to drive innovation and excellence. Responsibilities: Lead efforts in building and nurturing relationships with key clients and prospects, including insurance companies, banks, non-bank financial institutions, and financial sponsors. Provide strategic leadership and direction to the Financial Services and Sponsors sales team, ensuring alignment with the broader business objectives. Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy to drive growth and enhance S&P Global Ratings' market position in the Financial Services sector. Collaborate with senior executives to provide commercial insights and drive strategic initiatives. Oversee revenue generation and market share expansion, ensuring targets are met or exceeded. Utilize customer insights and market trends to inform sales strategies and product development. Develop strategies to improve key metrics such as revenue retention rates, market share and client satisfaction scores. Ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate governance requirements in all sales activities. Drive performance improvement through effective sales metrics and continuous team development. Foster cross-functional collaboration to leverage resources and expertise across the organization. Promote a culture of excellence and innovation within the team, encouraging professional growth and talent management. Compensation/Benefits Information: (This section is only applicable to US candidates) S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $130,100 to $258,600. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications. What We’re Looking For: Minimum of 15+ years of extensive experience in consultative sales, with a strong focus on financial services, including insurance, banking, non-bank financial institutions, and financial sponsors. Proven leadership experience, with a track record of managing sales teams and driving significant revenue growth. Extensive coaching and mentoring experience including coaching others to be leaders. Strong communication skills both written and oral and the ability to connect with people at all levels in the organization. Strong influencing and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic sales plans that align with business objectives and market trends. Thorough understanding of the capital markets with specific in-depth knowledge Financial Services client landscape. Strong client relationship management skills, with the ability to engage with senior executives and stakeholders. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on data-driven decision-making. Demonstrated ability to lead change and drive innovation within a sales organization. Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business Administration, or a related field, with a preference for advanced degrees or certifications in relevant areas. Advanced degree such as an MBA or equivalent in a relevant field preferred. Set the tone and act as a role model for the required sales behaviors including integrity, customer orientation, collaboration, and compliance.
