About the Role

Location: Belo Horizonte, Brazil
Leads governance and management for Samarco Asset to deliver sustainable value and protect BHPB´s interest and reputation aligned to BHP Values. Manages, governs, and controls all financial aspects for Samarco through a robust business strategy, commercial, operational, and influence skills. Provides leadership as committee member for Samarco, ensuring that fiduciary, commercial, and risk management aspects are fully adhered to, and influencing for outcomes that optimise value and minimise risk for shareholders. · Accountable for fostering BHP Leadership Culture across the Joint Ventures team, developing the right talent, and promoting communication, innovation, and cross-collaboration with BHP and external stakeholders. Provides subject matter expertise into all key interfaces with BHP Functions, ensuring that key operating strategies and parameters are fully considered to support Samarco activitiesCore Accountabilities
Accountable for managing Samarco´s BHP participation, being custodian of BHP interests in the Asset. Understands the relevant strategic trends in the Brazilian social, political, and economic dimensions and plays a role in representing the company to shape outcomes associated to the Samarco Asset. Participates in the Samarco governing bodies (Committees, and other supporting working groups) ensuring plan adherence, clear communication on material facts, reconciliation of financial obligations. Ensures BHP's legal rights and investment are protected on Samarco Asset Ensures compliance with legal and internal competition requirements Providing a key interface between the Samarco and Global Functions to ensure aligned stewardship of BHP Interest Understand the link between operations and commercial outcomes, which levers to pull for commercial value or mitigate value erosion in Samarco development Assesses and prioritizes risks to long-term sustainable shareholder value for Samarco Ensures the appropriate risk management and reporting systems are in place to identify, monitor, and verify material risks affecting Samarco and BHP Exercises sophisticated and robust influence skills with operating entities to influence the adoption of best practicesKey Relationships ·
Internal: Non-Operated JV Asset President, other Heads of Joint Ventures and Joint Venture Board Directors, Heads of Functions that support Joint Ventures (e.g., Legal, Finance, Compliance, HSE, Technical, and others), Principals Joint Ventures, Minerals Americas President, members of the Minerals Americas Leadership Team, Group Governance and leaders of Global initiatives that involves JV · External: Other Board members and Committee members of the Joint Ventures (JV partners include major mining companies and shareholder/Board counterparts consist of very senior executives), Joint Venture CEOs/management teams, external consultants. University degree in Business & Management, Engineering, Sciences or Law · An advanced degree (MBA, MSc, JD, or equivalent) is preferred Experience & Technical Competencies · Languages · Fluent in English (speaking and writing) · Spanish and/or Portuguese (desirable but not exclusionary)Experience & Technical Competencies
Proven track record of at least 10 years in executive leadership functional/operational or governance / Board roles · Demonstrated success in managing diverse teams and organizations and navigating through extreme complexity with little or no formal authority.
