Your role:
The Head of Life Science Business Development, reporting to the Chief Strategy & Transformation Officer, is responsible for driving the inorganic growth strategy for the >10bn EUR Life Science sector. This role involves collaborating with senior executives, business leaders, and experts to achieve the following:
Responsibility for driving the inorganic growth strategy for the 10bn EUR Life Science sector.Maintain industry relations (e.g. CEOs, founders, VC/ PE, investment banks, and others), expertise, and thought leadership on key trends in relevant spaces and adjacent/ emerging markets within the Life Science sector and represent the company at industry and investor conferences.Shape the strategic direction and growth trajectory of the Life Science sector through effective leadership and collaboration.Collaborate with senior executives, business leaders, and experts.Ensure inorganic strategies are integrated into the Strategy Development Plan via the annual Strategy.Development process, ultimately presented to the CEO of Life Science and the Executive Board, to drive strategy execution.Identify and develop growth opportunities, advance key transactions, and create a strong foundation form value creation by consolidating input from colleagues across the businesses (“deal flow” → execution)Provide direct leadership to the centralized Life Science Inorganic Strategy, BU Business Development & Licensing, and Life Science Post Merger Integration Teams.Cultivate a culture of innovation and collaboration, fostering the development of new ideas and exploring opportunities for new ventures and business models within the organization.Identify sector-level investments and divestments to facilitate fundamental decision-making for the sector by the Life Science Executive Team and the Group Executive BoardEstablish and implement processes to manage all Life Science M&A, Divestiture, Equity, Joint-Venture, and Business Development & Licensing transactions in compliance with company/ Sector Standard Operating Procedures and relevant laws (note: the actual M&A transaction is conducted by Group M&A).Ensure transparency in all M&A and Business Development & Licensing activities to the Life Science CEO and Life Science Executive Team through the efficient use of an IT system.This individual will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction and growth trajectory of the Life Science sector through effective leadership and collaboration.
Minimum qualifications:
Graduate degree in business/economics, law or science required.15+ years of relevant professional experience required.10+ years of experience in corporate/business development in a complex organization including senior roles, in regulated industries, ideally Life Science.Experienced senior leader with proven track record across the full in-organic deal spectrum (M&A, licensing, partnership, equity investment and joint ventures, divestitures) including identification, negotiation, and execution of complex deals.Proven track record of running strategy, portfolio, and inorganic growth programs.Direct people management experience, with proven track record of building and developing successful teams of seasoned deal professionals and industry experts.Experienced in framework, process, role & responsibility setting and team organization.Professional experience in strategy, finance, banking or (in-house) consulting roles.
Preferred qualifications:
Financial designation (CFA, CIMA/CMA, CPA) a plus.Location: US or Germany
