We are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to join our team as the Head of Asset Management Marketing. In this role, you will be responsible for driving awareness for Northern Trust Asset Management’s (NTAM) brand and investment expertise to initiate and strengthen client engagement. You will lead a global team and be focused on developing and executing integrated marketing, communications, and business strategies across institutional and wealth management client channels, investment platforms and media. The ideal candidate is an entrepreneurial, strategic thinker with practical marketing expertise and ability to execute – leveraging their deep knowledge of the asset management industry and their experience marketing to professional investors across institutional and wealth management segments. This role will report to the President of NTAM and serve on the Asset Management Executive Group.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement marketing strategies: Create and execute scalable marketing and communication strategies to both improve awareness of and adoption of our capabilities. This includes developing marketing plans, setting measurable objectives, and identifying target audiences.Content creation and distribution: Oversee the development of compelling marketing content, across a myriad of formats – articles, whitepapers, case studies, and presentations – to increase engagement with our target institutional and wealth management audiences. Utilize various organic and in-organic channels to distribute content that is fit for purpose across varying awareness, lead generation and retention marketing strategies.Brand management: Manage and increase the brand image of NTAM. Ensure consistency in messaging, visual identity, and brand positioning across all marketing channels, platforms and materials. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and maintain brand guidelines.Digital marketing and online presence: Enhance the use of existing digital channels and leverage new channels to scale our marketing efforts to increase brand visibility and generate leads. Optimize our website and digital platforms for search engine visibility, user experience, and lead generation.Client engagement and relationship management: Collaborate closely with key internal stakeholders across sales, product and investors to drive client acquisition and retention efforts. Develop and implement client engagement programs to foster strong relationships with clients, industry influencers, and key partners to enhance brand reputation and drive business growth.Marketing data and analytics: Set clear and measurable objectives and consistently monitor and report on the effectiveness of the groups efforts. Derive data-driven insights from all marketing activities and third-party platforms to inform marketing activities and increase their effectiveness.Market research and competitive analysis: Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, client needs, and competitor strategies. Analyze market data and client insights to inform marketing strategies and product development initiatives. Stay informed about regulatory and industry changes that may impact asset management marketing efforts.Team leadership and collaboration: Lead a team of marketing professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and support. Foster a collaborative and innovative culture within the marketing team, encouraging cross-functional collaboration with other departments such as sales, product management, and compliance.Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Finance or a related field. Master's degree preferred.Minimum of 10 years of experience in asset management marketing, with a focus on institutional and wealth management investor segments. Minimum 5 years’ experience in large, global multinational organization – able to work in a matrix environment Deep knowledge of the asset management industry, investment capabilities, and investor segments – globally.Proven track record of developing and executing successful marketing strategies in the asset management sector. Experience in marketing asset management vehicles in various growth areas of asset management such as ETFs, model portfolios, customized separately managed accounts (SMAs), direct indexing, privates. Strong understanding of digital marketing best practices and experience in leveraging digital channels for lead generation and brand building.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex investment concepts into clear and compelling messages.Strong analytical skills and ability to leverage data and insights to drive marketing decisions.Demonstrated experience effectively managing senior stakeholders across large organizations. Proven leadership skills with experience in managing and developing a team.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.Professional certifications such as CFA or CIMA preferred.FINRA licensing preferred (Series 7 and 24)Working with Us:
