ING BE Non-Financial Risk (NFR) department is looking for an energetic and innovative Expert Lead Operational Risk Management (ORM).
As an Expert Lead ORM you will play an important role in implementing the new NFR strategy happen and support in creating a data driven, risk-based and effective and efficient NFR function.
You challenge and advise the management of ING BE on NFR risks. This role encompasses servicing business lines of ING BE meaning that together with your team, you will be directly responsible for the supporting and challenging of these business lines in effectively and efficiently managing their non-financial risks by increasingly using data-driven solutions.
You steer on the reporting of NFR risks and controls by the 1st line and present the NFR Dashboard to senior management and have the ability and power to escalate if activities performed within the business domains in your scope are presenting risks outside ING’s NFR risk appetite. You set the standards for your team and take responsibility for developing, innovating and safeguarding knowledge in the field of the NFR expertise.
The Team
You will be managing the ORM team, which is part of the NFR department within ING BE Risk. The team consist of 9 ORM specialists who work together with the IT Risk specialists of the IRM team and NFR colleagues of the Integrated NFR team within the NFR department.
All Risk management activities will be performed in close alignment with risk specialists from the Group Risk teams. You will report to the Head of NFR ING BE.
Roles and responsibilities
As Expert Lead ORM you:
Are hierarchically responsible for effectively steering and managing the ORM team within ING BE NFR
Will build the required capabilities for his/her area to successfully execute the NFR risk strategy and roadmap. You will take ownership of the team with an entrepreneurial mindset, and will develop the vision, define the roadmap, and maximize the added value of risk management in your area.
Are responsible for the NFR risk management in your scope and work proactively with stakeholders and management of ING BE Business and Support Departments, supporting them in assuring their first line responsibilities under the NFR framework, through challenge and advice.
Challenge and advise (local) business on NFR risk exposure and adequacy of risk management in relation to ING BE products and processes and assure the business units under your control are either within risk appetite or have clear paths to green in place and follow all NFR group policies and procedures or have clearly documented and approved waivers and deviations in place.
Establish mandatory policies, and/or written mandatory guidance on the appropriate implementation and embedment of NFR-related requirements
Represent NFR in relevant global/corporate committees and governance processes (RCSAs, Events, Scenarios, Product Approvals, Projects etc.)
Are part of the NFR Leadership Team and contribute to designing the broader NFR strategy, and pro-actively driving the execution of NFRs new strategy and overall NFR management
Perform oversight on NFR risk management of ING BE activities in scope, proactively supporting your local colleagues “on the ground” and acting as the center of expertise for ING.
Ensure the ING BE ORM team works efficiently together with other teams in and outside NFR including 1LoD stakeholders.
Support and inform regulators like NBB and ECB and the external auditor.

Your technical skills and track record
You have relevant knowledge of NFR framework tools (RCSAs, Events, Scenarios, Projects)
