Head of Operations, Engineering and Sustainability

The 1 Elizabeth Street Tower and Metro development is a revolutionary over-station Premium Grade office that reached practical completion in July 2024, with an NLA of 60,000 sqm. The building integrates closely with the Sydney Metro network as it houses the Martin Place Metro station beneath it. Major building services are shared by both entities.

The property has been developed by Macquarie Bank who are the major tenant. Our on-site team strive for excellence to constantly develop and execute strategies that will position the branding of the property accordingly. The highest levels of board operations, as well as server rooms, and trading floors are all housed within this building. Continuous risk-free operation by the bank is paramount.

The role reports to our General Manager and will be working alongside the Engineering Services Manager and other Property Services Managers with support from the National Operations Team within JLL.

Managing a team of property operations professionals

Developing tenant retention strategies in consultation with the client

Overseeing day-to-day operations, engineering and compliance matters

Delivering an exceptional quality of service to the client

Ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of analysis and information for the asset plan, management reports, client’s annual reports, budgets, business plans/overheads, and others as required by relevant authorities, and the client

Confirming that there are no major risks associated with public liability, fire and lift safety, essential services, and non-essential services. This includes addressing all issues within the appropriate timeframes and ensuring a risk management plan is in place for the asset, particularly covering contractors and the management team

Managing budget forecasting and capital expenditure implementation, tendering and management

Achieve world-leading sustainability performance, following a well-designed and innovative concept for a highly sustainable precinct, inclusive of base building and tenancy ratings

Before you apply it's also worth knowing what we are looking for.

An impressive track record spanning operations and engineering management, with emphasis on managing premium grade multi-storey commercial assets and their systems including fire, electrical and building intelligence.

Superior written and verbal communication skills are essential and the ability to interact confidently and effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

A familiarity with emerging technologies and trends in smart buildings, sustainability, and operational efficiency.

Ability to manage budgets, analyse financial data, and make data-driven decisions.

Capacity to develop and implement long-term operational strategies aligned with business goals.
