Qualification and REQUIREMENTS
Degree in Civil/mechanical engineering or equivalent. At least 18-20 years' experience in managing Port construction projects and port operations, ideally in the mining sector. Certificates in port management to ensure that the incumbent is well-equipped to handle the complex demands of port construction and operations Strong technical knowledge of port engineering principles, construction practices, and regulatory requirements Knowledge of environmental and safety regulations
key responsibilities
Coordination with Engineering Firms: Collaborate with external engineering firms to ensure designs meet project specifications and standards. Review and approve engineering plans and drawings. Supervision of Construction: Oversee the construction process to ensure it adheres to the approved designs and quality standards. Conduct regular site inspections and address any issues that arise during construction. Commissioning of the Port: Manage the commissioning process, ensuring all systems and structures are operational and meet safety and performance criteria. Coordinate with various stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition from construction to operational status. Operations Management Post-Commissioning: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the port once it is commissioned. Implement and monitor operational procedures to ensure efficiency and compliance with company requirements. Budget and Schedule Management: Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring all activities are completed within financial constraints. Create and maintain project schedules, ensuring timely completion of all phases of the project. Compliance and Safety: Ensure all construction and operational activities comply with relevant regulations and safety standards. Implement safety protocols and conduct regular safety audits. Reporting and Documentation: Prepare and present regular progress reports to the Director/CEO. Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including design changes, construction progress, and commissioning records Key competencies
