About the RoleWe’re looking for a Director of Retail Operations to help shape the Clutch’s in-person experience. Over the past year, we’ve doubled our volume and made significant investments in our retail presence. We’re in the process of opening a flagship location in Mississauga and launching smaller retail delivery centers across the province, starting with Markham in April.
Retail Operations is responsible for delivering a best-in-class in-person experience for our customers at the final stage in the process, whether they’re buying or selling a vehicle. This means overseeing retail locations, customer interactions, and operational excellence to ensure every touchpoint is smooth, efficient, and memorable. On peak days, we handle 100+ transactions, making this a fast-paced, high-impact role.
What You’ll Do Lead & Scale Retail Operations: Oversee Clutch’s retail locations, ensuring an exceptional in-person experience for customers picking up or dropping off vehicles. Drive Operational Excellence: Establish and optimize processes to improve efficiency, reduce friction, and enhance customer satisfaction. Launch & Expand Locations: Play a key role in launching new retail locations, starting with Mississauga and Markham, and refine the playbook for future expansion. Optimize Customer Experience: Develop strategies to elevate the retail experience, integrating digital and physical touchpoints seamlessly. Manage & Develop Teams: Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing retail operations team across multiple locations. Measure & Improve Performance: Define key success metrics, monitor location performance, and implement continuous improvements. Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with logistics, customer experience, and product teams to ensure smooth execution and innovation in the retail experience. Lead facility management: Ensure Clutch’s retail locations reflect a best-in-class retail experience for our customers. This includes maintaining cleanliness, upkeep, security, and ensuring all necessary supplies and equipment are readily available for an exceptional customer and team experience. What We’re Looking For 7+ years managing and scaling multi-location retail or operational teams, preference towards experience with best-in-class retail brands and/or automotive. Minimum 5+ years managing teams, including hourly staff. Customer-first mindset with a deep understanding of how to optimize physical retail experiences. Experience in fast-paced, high-growth environments where adaptability and resilience are key. Passion for innovation and willingness to challenge the status quo. Hands-on leader who is willing to roll up their sleeves, work alongside the team, and tackle challenges directly.
