The PositionThe primary focus of this role is to serve as a people leader for our Sensor Production department. This includes ensuring the effective utilization of people, resources, and equipment while acting as the key contact for driving improvement programs within production. Additionally, this role leads operational excellence initiatives, including Yellow and Green Belt programs within Sensor Operations.
The Head of Production is responsible for developing and implementing training plans for their teams, ensuring continuous skill development and performance improvement. They embody Roche’s Operating Principles and Leadership Principles, fostering a high-performing team through operational excellence, clear goal-setting, and the achievement of key sensor production targets.
Key Responsibilities:
People Leadership:
Lead a team of team leaders and sensor technicians, managing up to 50 employees.
Oversee production operations across multiple sites.
Act as a coach and mentor to team leaders, developing their technical skills and expertise.
Conduct regular check-ins, feedback sessions, and 360-degree reviews to manage team performance effectively.
Foster an engaging and high-performing work environment by understanding individual team member strengths and aligning them with business needs.
Serve as the primary point of communication within Sensor Production, ensuring high team engagement.
Act as a line manager for direct reports, supporting employee development and career growth.
Operational Excellence & Process Optimization:
Ensure a well-planned, controlled, and audit-ready production environment for all teams.
Lead production audits, including GSPs, external audits, and internal quality audits.
Design and implement efficient processes using best practices, operational excellence methodologies, and 5S principles.
Ensure compliance with all SOPs, GSPs, the Code of Conduct, and relevant regulations.
Drive operational excellence by leading Yellow and Green Belt programs and maintaining a pipeline of improvement projects.
Support cross-functional training initiatives, both within and beyond production
Training & Development:
Conduct training needs assessments and design effective learning programs.
Deliver training sessions using adult learning principles and best practices.
Evaluate the effectiveness of training by assessing its impact on job performance.
Strategic & Financial Responsibilities:
Manage cost centers and support budget planning.
Act as the process owner for relevant production processes.
Build and maintain internal and external networks with other departments and external stakeholders.
Continuously optimize processes to improve quality and efficiency.
Who you are:
Passionate about driving meaningful improvements for patients by ensuring the highest quality products.
Extensive experience in medical device or pharmaceutical manufacturing/production.
Proven track record of leading and managing shift teams effectively.
Degree in Engineering, providing a strong technical foundation.
As a transformation leader, adept in implementing 5S, value stream mapping, and delivering cross-functional projects.
Certified Six Sigma Black Belt, with expertise in process optimization and continuous improvement.
Strong ability to collaborate cross-functionally, both across Scotland and internationally, fostering strong connections and partnerships.
