About the Position
Joining a dedicated team of coaches, staff and administrators, the Head Volleyball Coach will be responsible for developing, planning, administering, and evaluating the success of the volleyball program in accordance with guidelines from the University, the NCAA, and Atlantic Sun (ASUN) Conference. This position will strive to promote student success both on and off the court. The Head Volleyball Coach directs all aspects of the intercollegiate volleyball team including coaching, recruiting, scheduling, program administration and budgeting. Additional responsibilities may include performing administrative duties as assigned at the discretion of the Director of Athletics and assigned sport administrator.
Duties and Responsibilities • Carry out all aspects of the designated programs necessary to accomplish the objectives of the sport within the guidelines of the Athletic Department, University, ASUN Conference, and NCAA rules. • Design and implement training programs to improve player skills, fitness, and performance. This includes physical, technical, and mental development. • Develop effective strategies for competitions, including match preparation, in-game coaching decisions, and adjustments during the game. • Hire, train, and supervise assistant coaches, strength and conditioning staff, athletic trainers, and other personnel associated with the team. • Responsible for recruiting highly skilled student-athletes for the volleyball team. • Counsel the student-athlete in sport participation, personal development and athletics. • Foster a positive team environment and counsel the student-athlete in sport participation, personal development and athletics, focusing on discipline, accountability, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship. • Responsible for adhering to the policies and regulations of the University, Department of Athletics, ASUN, and NCAA; responsible for the orientation of student-athletes and boosters to these guidelines. • Oversee the conduct and discipline of student-athletes. • Work with admissions and academic coordinator in the enrollment of student-athletes. • Assist in fundraising in volleyball and with major fund raisers in the Athletic Department, in consultation with the Office of Advancement and the Athletic Director. • Represent the volleyball program in public, including speaking engagements, media interviews, and public appearances. Act as the primary spokesperson for the program. • Engage with former players and alumni to maintain positive relationships and encourage their involvement in the program. • Work with the marketing and communications departments to build fan interest, including promotional activities, social media, and community outreach programs. • Responsible for completing Office of Admission assignments on an annual basis. • In consultation with the Athletic Director or designee: Select, supervise and evaluate assistant coach; Manage sport budget; Market and promote sport program; Participate in athletic department major fundraising efforts; Develop a sport schedule; Perform other job-related duties as assigned; Comply with all policies and regulations of the University, ASUN and NCAA; Interact in an effective and appropriate manner with diverse populations, the University community and the public; Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports in a timely manner, particularly regarding athletic budget, eligibility, compliance and travel documentation.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree. Demonstrated successful experience in playing and/or coaching at the collegiate, university or professional level.
