RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reports to the Director of Athletics Coaching – Organization and Administration of the Women’s Cross Country/Track & Field Program. Develop and maintain a program that is competitive within the Conference, Region and Nationally. Conduct planned, organized practice sessions. Work with the Athletic Director/Associate Athletic Director on scheduling. Hire (with the approval of the Athletic Director) and supervise assistant coaches. Coordinate team travel plans. Responsible for team budget preparation. Responsible for equipment purchases in conjunction with the Associate Athletic Director. Responsible for issuing and collection of uniforms and equipment in conjunction with equipment manager. Conduct fund raising activities within department guidelines and complete proper paperwork. Provide information as required by the Sports Information Director for press releases etc. Submit end of the season reports and submit names of award winners to designated person. Assist compliance officer with required NCAA and NJAC team eligibility forms. Cooperate with the media and sports writers when appropriate. Develop a knowledge of and adhere to NCAA, ECAC and NJAC rules and regulations. Organization and Administration of Recruitment and Retention Program. Develop a knowledge of University admissions policies, academic standards and financial aid programs. Develop an effective communication/recruitment program with prospective student-athletes. Develop a positive working relationship with the Admissions Office. Submit recruiting information when requested by the Compliance Officer. Work with the compliance officer/academic coordinator with regards to special admits, study halls, registration etc. Develop contacts with secondary school and junior college coaches. Public Relations/Related Activities Establish an effective communications network with university faculty, administration, and staff. Develop rapport with Alumni Office. Be available to speak before high school, professional and community organizations when requested. Conduct community service projects with the team. Additional Professional Responsibilities Attend clinics and conferences related to your sport. Be an active member in state and national coaching organizations. Attend department meetings and activities. Serve on department and university wide committees. Winter game management Facility supervision of Esby Gym when needed. Assist with the high school girls track meet. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics

Bachelor’s Degree required; master’s preferred. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with college athletes and administrators. Ability to organize an effective recruitment and retention program for student athletes. Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
