Health, Safety and Environmental Technician - Level III
**DESCRIPTION** We are looking for a talented **Health, Safety and Environmental Technician - Level III** to join our team specializing in Health and Safety for our Cummins Inc. facility in Plainfield, IN. **In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:** + **Enhance Safety Culture** : By identifying gaps in HSE initiatives and local policies, and applying HSE culture to processes, you'll help create a safer work environment. + **Proactive Hazard Reporting** : Stopping work to report major injury hazards and work-related incidents will ensure timely interventions and prevent accidents. + **Support HSE Processes** : Providing guidance on reporting processes and supporting hazard identification, incident investigation, and risk assessments will strengthen HSE management systems. + **Promote Environmental Management** : Supporting environmental management activities and initiatives will contribute to sustainability efforts. + **Participate in Inspections and Audits** : Actively participating in HSE inspections, audits, and incident investigations will help identify and address potential issues. + **Maintain Compliance** : Assisting in the maintenance of local HSE policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements will ensure compliance and continuous improvement. + **Foster Team Communication** : Communicating effectively with your team and support staff will enhance collaboration and drive HSE awareness. + **Engage in Continuous Improvement** : Participating in employee engagement initiatives and training will promote an interdependent culture and contribute to overall quality and safety improvements. **RESPONSIBILITIES** **To be successful in this role you will need the following:** + **Action Oriented** : Embrace new opportunities and tough challenges with urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm. Perform accurate root cause analysis to develop effective corrective actions, ensure accurate reporting, and prevent recurrence of incidents. + **HSE Management Systems** : Apply international standards practically within the operating environment. Work towards achieving and maintaining an effective management system and obtaining external certification. + **Risk Assessment** : Evaluate hazards in the work environment using hazard identification and risk assessment techniques. Analyze and prioritize risks to select control measures that reduce risk to the lowest reasonably practicable level. **Education/Experience:** High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations. A two-year University degree in Industrial Safety, Environmental Management, Sustainability or related field preferred. Requires significant relevant work experience or specialized skills obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience in health, safety and environment. **QUALIFICATIONS** **Additional Information:** • Lead Bi-weekly Safety Committee meetings • Lead First Responder Team meetings • Lead Safety Training for new hire orientation • Compile Weekly LSA and Raw Recyclable Audits • Assist with maintaining ISO 14001 and 45001 Certification • Assist team members and workplace committees with creative approaches to improving safety • Assist with Incident Investigations - conduct interview process, take pictures, and obtain any other necessary paperwork • Data Entry and Maintain Enablon • Coordinate with department managers, facilitators and team leads to plan, schedule and complete training sessions as required. • Learn, operate, and train others to operate all equipment used in the facility, including all types of powered industrial trucks and RF equipment • Conduct general and clerical office task to support operation • Assist in operational projects **Compensation:** Please note that the salary range provided is a good faith estimate on the applicable range.
