Reporting of the Role

This role reports into the Head of Property and Workspace

Overview of job

Global is committed to ensuring the well-being of its employees, talent, and audiences and is seeking a dynamic and experienced Health & Safety Manager to join its Property and Workspace team.

This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in health and safety regulations and risk management who can develop, implement and lead all aspects of its EHS Management System to ensure it is effective and protects the business (brand reputation, corporate responsibility, compliance, employee’s safety etc).

This role will be the cornerstone of all aspects of Property and Workplace Health and Safety ensuring a high performing culture and experience of safety for its people, property and operational activities across Global’s UK property portfolio.

Measures of success – In the first few months, you would have:

Established a reputation as the “go-to” person for health and safety, fire, safeguarding and health and safety risk management.

Developed strong working relationships with our operational teams by being approachable, knowledgeable and pragmatic.

Implemented safety initiatives and managed projects that improve partner engagement.

Responsibilities of the role

Establish, maintain, review and develop all aspects of Global’s safety management systems, including the EHS Management System.

Promote practical risk management by developing and delivering in-house training.

Create and implement appropriate and effective health and safety, fire and safeguarding policies and procedures.

Conduct assurance monitoring of Global premises and contractors.

Develop emergency response plans for Global premises.

Incident investigation, escalation, management and reporting.

Work together with the Global Outdoor HSEQ department, Security and Workspace to manage the H&S risk register.

Monitor, evaluate and review new and upcoming safety legislation in the UK and across the EU to ensure that Global has systems and procedures in place to meet legal compliance and other requirements.

Help create a group-wide culture focused on a safe, secure and healthy working environment for all working in partnership with senior managers across the business, empowering them to be proactive in meeting their responsibilities and in ensuring continual improvement of safety within their respective parts of the businesses.

Identify opportunities to save costs, be efficient with safety performance, develop third party relationships and explore innovative management solutions and market leading approaches.

Play a central role coordinating wellbeing-focused programs within the business and be a key contributor to the company’s networks, such as accessibility, mental health and others.

Maintain useful monitoring, metrics, KPIs, analysis and reporting for the H&S function inclusive of insurer engagement.

Oversee property insurance requirements, outcomes and life-cycles for all property health matters.

Review and audit arrangements for health & safety management and continuously improving these arrangements where appropriate.

Advance where any H&S management is failing.

Establish and own a Health & Safety Committee, providing clear direction for leaders

Monitor site works from a H&S perspective ensuring adherence to internal procedures at all times including (but not limited to) Permit to Work, Control of Contractors, Risk Assessment, Emergency Response, Management of Change, Incident Investigation, delivery of Projects.

What you will need:

A comprehensive understanding and demonstrable experience of health and safety management, health and safety industry, guidelines and legislation.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in health and safety management, preferably within the media entertainment industry.

In-depth knowledge of health & safety and fire regulations, risk management principles and insurance practices.

A Health and Safety qualification that meets the academic requirements for Certified membership of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) or Membership of The International Institute of Risk & Safety Management (IIRSM).
