Health And Safety Manager
**Job Title: Health and Safety Manager** **_Estimated Annual Salary of $130,000_** **Job Description** This is a hands-on working Manager position responsible for leading all facility Safety, Health, and Environmental Control functions. The role involves implementing and maintaining a health and safety program, ensuring compliance with all applicable Corporate, Federal, State, and local safety, industrial hygiene, fire code, and environmental regulations. The position includes managing up to five direct and indirect reports and providing technical expertise to the facility to prevent serious injury, environmental impact, and property damage. **Responsibilities** + Maintain current knowledge of Federal, State, and local Safety/Industrial Hygiene/Environmental regulations and advise management of compliance status. + Analyze statistical data to identify improvement opportunities and implement solutions. + Collaborate with the VP of Operations and Staff to develop plant procedures, policies, action plans, practices, and rules to reduce losses. + Establish and administer the Safety, Health, and Environmental Department budget and recommend expenditures for safety equipment. + Hire, train, evaluate, and develop a qualified EHS staff. + Provide technical guidance on key safety, industrial hygiene, environmental, ergonomic, and fire protection issues. + Conduct project reviews and provide loss control input on new or changed processes and equipment. + Develop, implement, communicate, and manage various loss control programs. + Motivate and instill safety awareness in all plant employees through training, incentives, and communication programs. + Act as the facility’s environmental liaison with regulatory agencies. + Develop and coordinate emergency response plans, spill cleanup, and disaster planning. + Provide management with detailed reports on major property losses and human injuries. + Serve as the loss control contact for fire insurance issues and inspections. + Participate as a member of the plant management staff and work on special projects as they arise. **Essential Skills** + Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Manufacturing or EHS; Master’s Degree preferred. + Certifications preferred: Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH). + Minimum of 5 years of experience in EHS within a manufacturing or similar environment. + Supervisory experience in training and evaluating a small team. + Extensive experience with OSHA compliance, including regulations, audits, and reporting incidents. + Strong mechanical knowledge or understanding of manufacturing operations. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Experience in loss control, safety, industrial hygiene, environmental safety, and emergency response. + Ability to effect change without direct exercise of command through persuasion. + Mastery of a specific professional discipline or expertise across several disciplines. + Responsible for establishing EHS Plan for the site with input from Global EHS Director/Manager and site staff. **Why Work Here?** We offer a full range of benefits including 401K, health, vision, dental, PTO, and holidays. This is a very stable job with a secure company. **Work Environment** The base shift expectation for this role is Monday - Friday starting at 8:00 AM, with the flexibility to work as needed, including off-shifts to assess quality adherence and procedures. The facility is a GMP manufacturing facility, an OSHA VPP (Voluntary Protection Program) site, very clean and well-maintained, mostly automated with newer equipment.
