Occupational Health and Safety Technician – Springfield Occupational Health

Job Summary:

The Occupational Health and Safety Technician collects data on the health and safety conditions of the workplace. The Health and Safety Technician work with occupational health and safety specialist in conducting tests and measuring hazards to help prevent harm to workers, property, the environment, and the general public.

Essential Functions: 

Inspect, test, and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices to ensure that they follow safety standards and government regulationsCollect samples of potentially toxic materialsEvaluate programs on workplace health and safetyEducate employers and workers about workplace safetyDemonstrate the correct use of safety equipmentInvestigate incidents and accidents to identify what caused them and how they might be preventedOther duties as assigned

Education:

High School Degree or GED

Experience:

2 years of experience with administrative and clinical duties in an office or medical environment (required)Previous Occupational Health experience (preferred, not required)

Skills & Abilities:

Strong initiative and independent judgment in routine and emergenciesStrong computer skills required (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)Broad knowledge of environmental, health, and safety regulations, and the ability to review, understand and interpret regulatory standardsMany of our opportunities reward* your hard work with:
