Reporting to the Walk and Roll Long Beach Program Manager (Public Health Professional III), these positions will assist with bike and pedestrian safety/safe active transportation education and encouragement activities and initiatives. This position is located at the Main Health Department, 2525 Grand Avenue, Long Beach, CA 90815, but will require frequent travel to destinations in the community and may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES + Coordinates and facilitates virtual and in-person education classes and workshops for adults, children, seniors, participating businesses, and partner agencies. + Plans and implements community events and awareness campaigns focused on bike and pedestrian safety. + Organizes and conducts education and assessment activities in community settings. + Identifies age and culturally relevant content for educational and promotional material used to conduct programmatic activities. + Assists with development of tools to measure program success and implementation of formative process, and outcome evaluation activities. + Develops print and social media resources and educational materials for classes, workshops, trainings, partner agencies, and community stakeholders. + Assists in the completion of progress reports required by funders. + Attends and participates in required meetings and trainings. + Assists Program Manager in the organization of community events hosted by Walk and Roll LB. + Assists community members with identification of community resources and provides referrals. + Performs other related duties as required. REQUIREMENTS TO FILE EDUCATION + High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification. EXPERIENCE + Two years of professional experience supporting health education programs. (Academic degrees in Public Health, Health Sciences, or a closely related field may be substituted for required experience on a year for year basis. + A valid driver’s license, or the ability to arrange necessary and timely transportation for field travel. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS + Academic degrees in Public Health, Community Health, or a closely related field. + Experience with CANVA and Microsoft Office Products (word, excel, etc.) + Experience with public speaking, conducting classroom trainings and/or informational sessions. + Willingness and ability to work occasional evenings and weekends. + Bilingual skills (Spanish, Tagalog, Khmer). KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES + Excellent organizational and administrative skills. + Ability to manage program objectives in a timely manner. + Proven ability to work independently and innovate. + An understanding of community health and public health topics, specifically as they relate to vulnerable populations. + Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. + Ability to learn, interpret, retain, and communicate technical and complex information, terminology, policies, and laws related to bike and pedestrian safety/safe active transportation education. + Strong research and analytical skills to make data-informed decisions and recommendations. + Productive relationship management with a wide variety of people, achieved by consistently exercising tact, good judgment, and a pro-active, problem-solving focused style.
