Position Purpose
Coordinates and monitors daily activities for the Health Information Management (HIM) department. Performs site functions including record preparation, document imaging, quality review, record storage and retrieval, release of information and birth certificate processing where applicable.
What you will do
Provide direction to the onsite team for daily assignments and workflow
Ensure processes consistently meet productivity and quality standards
Serve as a technical resource and superuser regarding the EMR and document management system
Maintain the integrity and availability of the medical record to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and accreditation requirements
Perform health record quality audits to maintain the quality of documentation and assess record integrity
Assist with training and on-boarding of new HIM colleagues
Communicate and work with physicians/providers, physician office personnel, colleagues, clinical managers, vendors and others in order to ensure a quality health record and promote customer service
Minimum Qualifications
Associate’s Degree in Health Information Technology, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field, or an equivalent combination of years of education and experience required
Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) preferred
At least three (3) years of current progressively more responsible experience in diverse functional areas of HIM in an acute care environment required
Demonstrated, current expertise with the electronic health record, health information systems, document imaging/document management system and other healthcare applications required
Working knowledge of Epic EMR preferred
