ChristianaCare’s Embedded Behavioral Health department is searching for a Full Time Health Psychologist.

The Embedded Health Psychologist will be an essential part of the team who will enhance and improve the quality of patient care at ChristianaCare by providing assessment, treatment, consultation and education services for individuals experiencing behavioral health needs associated with their medical and health conditions.  Provides clinical support to the embedded behavioral health team with a focus on palliative care psychology and will also offer additional support to other medical specialties.

This position will also provide teaching to psychology trainees, psychiatry residents and/or other students for clinical rotation.

Key Responsibilities

Conducts clinical interviews and assessments to provide diagnostic impression and treatment recommendations to the chronic pain patient population and other health-related conditions. 

Provides evidenced-based psychological interventions including individual and group therapy.

Works as a member of multidisciplinary teams (physicians, nurses, case management, psychiatrist) regarding treatment planning and connection to community-based services as appropriate.

Able to effectively communicate and work constructively with the multidisciplinary treatment team and maintain timely and appropriate documentation of the patient's clinical status, progress, and treatment in the electronic health record.

Provides coordination of care services with patients, families, providers, payment sources and other involved parties.

Actively participates in the design and implementation of research, evaluation , and quality improvement projects to assess the effectiveness and specific influence of the health psychology component as needed.

Maintains up-to-date information on effective strategies and interventions to address psychological issues and health behavior change for the palliative care population and other health-related conditions.

Maintains licenses/certifications in areas of specialty and completes mandatory CCHS education.

Maintains confidentiality of department and patient information.

Performs other related duties as required.

Position Qualifications

PhD or PsyD in Clinical Psychology required.

Delaware license or eligible for Delaware license. All qualified candidates will be required to be licensed with the State of DE prior to start date.

Three to five years of experience in clinical/health psychology preferred, working with individuals and groups to address chronic health-related condition.

Experience working with multidisciplinary treatment teams in a medical setting. 

Whether a position can be supported for remote work will be assessed based on whether ChristianaCare is able to meet the business requirements of the proposed remote location.
