Job SummaryThis position will provide PSE&G Operations' Safety Program leadership and implementation by establishing and maintaining accountability for industrial health and safety performance and programs for PSE&G Electric Operations locations.
Job Responsibilities• Implements safety & health programs under direction of the H&S Program Manager
• Provides technical oversight, guidance and administrative support to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations pertaining to employee safety and health within the various locations.
• Responsible for overall safety and health management and subject matter expertise for all levels of management and bargaining unit, local H&S councils, LOB H&S councils, and PSEG councils in all areas of health and safety
• Perform field audits, inspections and assessments of safety programs and processes to initiate corrective actions.
• Perform health and safety training that meets OSHA and company requirements. Ensure employees are in compliance for annual training needs.
• Develop hazard control methods, programs and procedures.
• Provide timely and effective messages to maintain high awareness levels, reducing hazards and the potential for on-the-job injuries and motor vehicle collisions.
• Conduct and support accident investigation and root cause reporting.
• Analyze and review existing work procedures to improve business and safety operations.
• Responsible and accountable for improvement in year over year health and safety performance.
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering or related field with a minimum 5 years of work experience with direct safety-related responsibilities within the utility, construction or similar industry Without a bachelor’s degree, must have 9 years of work experience within the utility, construction or similar industry. Strong leadership, adaptability, decision making, problem solving, teamwork, communications, client/customer satisfaction focus skills Knowledge of OSHA regulations and relevant consensus standards i.e. ANSI, ASTM, NFPA, etc. Excellent verbal and written communication and persuasive interpersonal skills Knowledgeable and proficient in computer applications including Microsoft Office and ability to learn internal Enterprise systems. Must have a valid drivers license Must foster an inclusive work environment and respects all aspects of diversity Must demonstrate and value differences in others' strengths, perspectives, approaches, and personal choices Must be able to work varying shifts to support location and field operations including but not limited to emergencies, storms, and on-call assignments.
