Health & Safety/Quality Control Coordinator

Covia is looking for a dynamic Health & Safety/Quality Control Coordinator (HSQC) who will have a positive impact on the Operations team at its Dividing Creek, NJ location while reporting to the Production Superintendent.  As an HSQC, you will supervise and administer the Health & Safety and Quality Control programs in a manner consistent with corporate and governmental standards.

 

The successful incumbent will have the following Key Accountabilities:

 

Health & Safety

Establish and implement plant safety training programs consistent with Corporate Health & Safety policies that incorporate required regulatory training. Maintain and direct safety training programs, including MSHA New Miner Training, Annual Refresher Training, Site Specific Contractor Training, First Aid, CPR & AED training, and all provisional training as required by environmental permits. Conduct emergency disaster training with outside EMS providers and plant personnel. Monitor and perform regularly scheduled audits and inspections for plant program adherence to all policies, processes, equipment, and work areas. Conduct incident and near hit ICAM investigations. Manage employee physicals and audiograms program. Perform industrial hygiene sampling for both personal and work areas relating to dusty, heavy metals and noise categories to meet corporate health sampling and objectives. Submit reports for all safety policies, procedures, and regulations at the Federal, State, Local and Internal levels for subjects including federal safety inspections, MSHA man-hours worked, WC & MSHA injury and Internal Audits.

 

 

 

 

Quality Control

Apply quality control and continuous improvement principals to all key process indicators and establish internal control limits and specifications. Publish and communicate all KPI quality and health metrics to the entire site. Perform laboratory work to regulatory agency specifications for information required in Covia’s customer requirements. Ensure completion of the monthly sieve standards and monthly composites. Ensure completion of gauge calibrations on all plant testing equipment, scales, etc. and maintain traceable standards as required. Annually review with area leadership all site quality control policies and procedures ensuring they are suitable, adequate and effective. Develop, review, update and implement all statistical process control (SPC) related key performance indicators (KPI’s). Perform investigations and root-cause analysis of customer complaints as required.

 

 

General

Fill in for Supervisors while they are off. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

The successful incumbent will have the following Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or related field required or 5 years of direct experience with Health & Safety and/or Quality Control. Quality or HS experience in mineral processing preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Software: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & SharePoint.
